Merlin- forbidden kiss pt2

Start from the beginning

"I cannot." And with my words Merlin left me in the cupboard in a matter of seconds.

The rest of the day and even the next drifted by with no other meetings with Merlin but my heart was still heavy from the first. My mind was constantly betraying me by thinking about him even though I was standing in my wedding gown outside the halls doors about to be married. My heart was racing from nervous and I was pacing back and forth.

"Stop pacing your highness," Leon spoke as he opened the doors just enough so he could squeeze through before closing them. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you Leon." I smiled gratefully, stopping in my tracks before returning to pacing back and forth.

"Here, a present from Gwen." He leaned forward and handed me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers wrapped in a silky cloth.

"They are so beautiful." I whispered.

"See you have stopped pacing your highness." He smiled at me and I smiled back shaking my head.

"How many times must I tell you just to call me Y/n?

"Always just one more." He grinned cheekily at me before walking back to the doors. "Are you ready?" I nodded despite myself and he opened the doors to reveal every eyes in the hall on me. I breathe out as I start my descent down the aisle my eyes focused on Prince Edmund as I was instructed. Although my eyes were on the prince my mind was still on Merlin and I could not shake my thoughts off him especially seen as he was no where to be seen. Prince Edmund took my hands in his after I handed the bouquet to Morgana.

"You look beautiful." He whispered and I smiled.

"Thank you." I whispered back. The priest began to talk about the power of love and how strong it is and how it should be held on tightly for it can escape easily. I couldn't help myself I looked down at my hands to see Prince Edmund holding them loosely and i smiled knowing that my hands have been held tighter by a certain servant to my brother.

"And now the final part of this cerem-" the priest broke off when the doors reopened and Merlin walked through. The Kings immediately turned to look at the boy but my father was already prowling towards him.

"What are you doing?" He hissed at Merlin who seemed shockingly clam.

"Something I should have done a long time ago." He replied before continuing to walk down the aisle.

"I demand you leave at once!"

"Only if she wants me to." He replied looking directly into my eyes. My chest tightened as I froze in shock before turning to look at Edmund.

"I don't know anymore, I don't know what to do." I muttered before Edmund squeezed my hands and I looked up to see him staring down at me.

"Hey, aide." He whispered soothingly. "Do what you need to do." He whispered smiling softly, but knowingly at me.

"What about our fathers?" I whispered scared of the outcome. He smiled before tugging on my hands slightly and pulling me closer to whisper in my ear.

"Who cares?"

I swallowed my fear before releasing my hands and stepping away from the prince. Mutters spread across the crowd as I walked back down the aisle to Merlin and straight past my father.

"Y/n Pendragon don't you dare-" he started but I cut him off by grabbing Merlin by the collar and pressing my lips hard against his.

He gasped in shock before his hands roamed around my waist and he kissed me back. Unexplainable feelings took over and I found myself no longer caring about what my father thinks. We pulled away and as my lips left his I was dragged back to reality and I immediately knew what I had to do.

"I needed to do this Merlin but you know I can't." I whispered, my own words breaking my heart.

"I know that now." He replied and I smiled wiping away the tears before walking up the aisle for the last time.

"Y/n?" My father questioned and I turned to face him.

"Trust me father." I replied before joining hands with Edmund once more.

"What are you doing y/n, surely you would want to be with Merlin?" Edmund softly questioned and I smiled sadly.

"I want to be with him , more than anything, but I gave you and my kingdom my word and a Pendragon never goes back on their word." I solemnly said and Edmund nodded, his lips tugging at a small smile.

"Okay." He whispered nodding to the priest to continue.

Within minutes myself and Edmund were married, and despite my feelings I will forever have for Merlin, we were happy, even now. We originally lived together in Camelot but when his father tragically passed away we moved to the Eastlands to become their rulers. As King and Queen we had children, who had children, who had children and the story of my forbidden kiss has been told over and over again. And I was wrong all those years ago, I have come to love Edmund but I find myself always comparing him to Merlin, something I know I shouldn't do. And in my old age I can barely remember the days in which I lived in the Castle of Camelot but what forever is in my mind is my forbidden kiss and the man that i shared it with.
