A couple of weeks passed.

It seemed Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji and Miao Lu found some balance. They often had meals together, and Wei Ying would use the time afterwards to talk to her, or let her read to him, while his husband was taking care of the daily tasks. He really tried to spend more time with his son; for some reason, he was absolutely certain the baby was a boy.

He would often lie down and let his head rest in her lap. She was very embarrassed about it at first, but as he wouldn't stop, she thought that she might as well enjoy it. He would often turn his face and kiss her belly through the clothes gently. She just smiled and thought to herself that that baby would be absolutely adored.

She loved every minute she could spend alone with him. She really understood why Hanguang-Jun was so in love with Wei Qianbei. He had very quick wit, a light-hearted sense of humor, and he was free. He ignored rules and decorum, and he did whatever he liked. It was fascinating, and a little scary too. Never boring, for sure.

He always asked her how she was feeling, and she really felt fine. Her new room was a little more isolated, and she had peace and quiet during the nights. She hadn't had any dreams either, as those seemed to be connected with her Master Wei's inner peace too, and he looked content and happy.

Bai Li was taking the new situation into consideration, and the meals they were having were spicier and often contained meat. She worried a little, as Wei Qianbei would often look very sick and weak, and she could not understand how and why. Whenever she saw him alone with Hanguang-Jun, his cheeks were rosy and he was smiling and looked completely happy and healthy. But after spending an afternoon with her – he would keep the bed for the next day, and his husband would always worry and spend the day with him, behind a locked door. She felt sad and perplexed, and missed him a lot.

Bai Li was constantly making plans about her new clothes and shoes, and they talked a lot about shopping, and gardening, and meals too. She also consulted her opinions about the new flowers and decorations for the garden in the spring, as the Masters wanted to build and rearrange the further end of it. She wondered why there precisely, but it remained a mystery.

The warm weather patch was soon over and new snow fell one night, making it nearly impossible to move outside the House. She was spending some quiet time in the Library Room, reading, always with her Master Lan now, but she found very little information on resentful energy. It seemed that the only experts on the topic were Wei Qianbei and the Ghost General.

She missed her Master Wei on most days, as she now had almost nothing better to do than sit by the window and look at the soft snow falling from milky skies most of the time. Before, she would sit at least for some time in the kitchen, helping with chopping vegetables for the meals, but now Bai Li absolutely forbade it. Until she instituted a handmaid for her, personally, and now she at least had someone to talk to, and someone who informed her of all the gossip in the House.

Sue Lin was about her age, but looked older. She was very chatty, and often made inappropriate comments about Bai Li and the Masters, but those only made Miao Lu laugh. She was grateful that the silence was finally broken. She grew to like her, and enjoy her company.

- Mistress!!!  -  Sue Lin barged in, snow and all, taking her cloak hastily. – News! – she grinned.

- From the Young Master? Or? – Miao Lu looked at her with anticipation, blushing.

- Oh, I really don't know, Mistress, but.... – she leaned in and whispered, too loudly. - Two letters just arrived! I saw Bai Li go the master bedroom to deliver them to Hanguang-Jun!

- One of them must for sure be from the Young Master, Sue Lin! – she clapped her hands, excited.

- Mistress, is it true that the Masters won't be here for Hanguang-Jun's birthday? – she pouted. – We really wanted to decorate the House this year! Now with the baby coming, we have so much reason to celebrate!

Miao Lu laughed. She remembered Lan Wangji's utter lack of enjoyment and patience at Wei Wuxian's birthday, even though it was just their closest people present.

- Well, as far as I know Master Lan – he won't appreciate a noisy big celebrations, Sue Lin. – he smiled.

- Ah, too true, Mistress! He scoffs and tells us off every year! Bai Li is always so upset! But he only wants to spend time with Wei Qianbei! – she grinned, winking at her cheekily.

Miao Lu blushed. All the servants knew that she had spent time in the master bedroom too. She said quietly:

- I can quite understand, Sue Lin. Wei Qianbei is quite amazing.

She lowered her eyes, but Sue Lin kneeled in front of her and took her hands in her own, saying sweetly:

- We all love both Masters, but you, Mistress, seem to prefer Master Wei, eh?

Miao Lu blushed and said nothing, but moved to the window to pretend she was enjoying the view. In reality, she was daydreaming, missing him.

- I can understand, Mistress. – the young woman added. – Both Masters are quite amazing.

- I will miss them. They will be leaving for the Yunmeng Jiang Clan soon... - Miao Lu said dreamily.

- Ehh, you are lucky, Mistress! To dine with the Masters! Such an honor! They are the best cultivators in the country! Everyone is afraid of them! – she said proudly.

Miao Lu laughed. She knew that it was precisely that magic which complicated her life.

She put her hands on her belly and murmured:

- I hope all will be fine. I hope he will be fine...
