"Well well look who we have here" I heard someone say from behind me but I didn't want to turn around.
I was in line at the grocery store waiting to pay and I felt their presence behind me. I prayed that the line hurried the fuck up so I can get out of this line and run.
I don't know who it was and I sure as hell didn't want to turn around and find out. I had Kairo with me and my only mission was get him, my unborn and I out of this store and into the car.
"You too good to look back or some?" Someone with a deeper voice said tapping my shoulder. I turned and seen a finger with a tattoo of the letter K and a spade heart in black and red ink
I quickly looked forward seeing that the lady in front was almost done. I quickly pulled Kairo out of the cart making sure he was facing front and not the back.
I grabbed my phone quickly texting Dave but wasn't getting any response
"Shorty you mad disrespectful ignoring us like that. The least you can do is say Hi or some"
I stayed silent and kept looking in front of me the whole time waiting for the perfect time to make a run for it.My heart felt like it was about to jump out of my chest the longer I stood there.
After what felt forever the lady in front of me moved out the way so she could load her cart which gave me the perfect opportunity to run. I pushed the cart all the way and made a run for it. I held Kairo close as I unlocked my truck running through the parking lot
"Aye" I heard them yell getting closer
Once I reached the truck I quickly hopped in placing Kairo in the passenger seat Closing the door. I grabbed the keys putting them in the ignition turning the car on taking off. At this point I knew I was being careless with my son but I needed to get away from them.
As I pulled out the parking lot seeing them hoping in their car too.
"Kairo get in the back seat baby and lay on the floor please" I told him
I needed him down on the floor in case they started shooting
"Okay"He said hopping in the back.
I threw the jackets and everything I had in the back seat making sure it covered him but he could still breathe
I grabbed my phone dialing Dave's number praying he answered but nothing. It kept going to voicemail.
"Come on Dave" I cried out seeing that they had caught up to me.
I went to make a right again when a car came out of no where blocking me.
