"Do I need to get down too?" Layla asked as we came to a stop at the light just before Heaven's school.
"Nah you can stay in here and finish yo food fat ass" I laughed making her hit my arm "Damn yo heavy handed ass" I rubbed where she hit me at.
"Kain stop fucking playing with me before I kill you. Brother or not" She mugged me stuffing her mouth with fries.
We had stopped to get Popeyes for us to eat since Taya worked all day and we didn't cook anything. We were giving Desire a day off to enjoy some her time because we all knew she was stressing and it wasn't good for the baby. So we decided to pick Kairo and Heaven up from daycare and school and watch them for a bit.
It felt good getting our relationship back. It seemed like little by little things were looking up but of course when everything went good something bad always happened. This whole thing with Dave had all of us stressing but we tried not show it so that Desire wouldn't suspect anything. I just wanted all this to be over with so that we can be happy again.
Pulling up to the front of the school I parked my car grabbing my phone out of the cup holder taking my seatbelt off.
"Okay stay here while I run in there real quick and get her so we can go home" I told her opening the car door hopping out
"Okay" She said eating more fries
I closed the door hearing it lock behind me letting me know she had locked the doors. I proceeded to the door walking in heading to the front office.
"Good evening Kain" Ms.Daisy the secretary greeted "What brings you by?"
"Hey Ms.Daisy" I smiled "I'm here to get Heaven" I told her causing her to give me a confused look
"I was told she was picked up earlier "She told me
"Nah can't be. I was told by Desire to come get her" I told her trying to see if this was a mistake or something
"That's weird Hunny. See it says she was picked up" She gave me the clipboard with the sign out log
I looked at it and sure enough it said that she was picked up around 12. I put the clipboard down pulling out my phone calling Desire. Maybe she picked her up and forgot to tell us
"Hey Kain" She answered right away
"Hey Des. Uh by any chance did you pick Heaven up today?" I asked
"No. I thought you were getting her" She said sounding panicked
"Yeah right. Let me call you back" I hung up grabbing the board calling Taya
