"So what's your next move?" Dave asked as he seasoned the meat
He had came over to spend some time with Kairo and offered to cook dinner and who am I to reject that.
Carter was out of town handling some stuff for his new studio so it was just me and my baby here so it's nice having someone else here
"Honestly I don't know. I don't even feel like being a lawyer no more"
He put the stuff down and turned looking at me
"You joking right?"
"I wish I was to be honest" I said shaking my head as tears threatened to fall
"Nah come on Des. You never gave up. All the time I've known you, you never gave up. Even when you felt like you had nothing to live for you pushed through and over came everything. There wasn't shit you couldn't and didn't over come so I know you aren't about to give up your dream job for a minor set back" He walked closer to me
"But Dave all the excitement I had for it flew out the window. If anyone know how much I went through to get that title that was stripped from me its you"
"And that's the same exact reason why I'm telling you that you can't give up Des. Make all them tears you've cried and all the sleepless nights you had count. You're going to get over this and become a great ass lawyer don't let this stop you from being what you really want to be in life"
I looked at him and couldn't help but smile. This was the Dave I miss. These are the moments I missed. Not just with him but with him as my best friend. I miss being able to vent to him knowing he'll listen and set my head straight. If anyone knows me more than I know myself its him. He knows all about my past and everything I went through.
"I don't know. I feel like the more I grow and the more I go through I lose more and more interest in becoming a lawyer. Like I want to be someone more meaningful that can do more than just keep people out of jail" I told him
"Lawyers are more than just that but what else you have in mind then?"
"Like a social worker to help kids who went through similar things I went through. Like just help kids find their way"
"But you do realize that Lawyers make more than social workers right?"
"I know but I don't care about the money like that. I mean I know I'll be straight as long as I manage my money right"
I was good with money and knew how to save so making sure I had back up money was never an issue.
"Well whatever you decided I'm behind you 100 percent"
"Thank you" I smiled as I watched him get back to cooking.
