"Mommy" I heard again causing me to come back to reality and bring my body out of shock
"Heaven baby you're awake" I cried letting go of Ant's mom and making my way over there trying to control my tears.
I felt my body shaking uncontrollably but all I wanted was to hug her and never let her go
"Mommy" She opened her arms pulling me to her
"My baby, My baby's awake" I repeated over and over not believing it. I hugged her so tight so she could feel just how happy I was and the love I had for her
"I'm awake mommy don't cry no more" She pulled away grabbing my face wiping my tears "I'm good look" She moved her body smiling
"I see baby. You don't know how happy I am" I told her
My smile reached from ear to ear because of how happy I was that my baby girl pulled through and was healthy
"She woke up this morning and we were going to call you but she wanted to surprise you" Ant's mom spoke making me look at her smiling
"You wanted to surprise me?"I asked Heaven
"Yeah because I heard you praying every day saying you wish God would surprise you with me waking up so I decided to do the surprising" She shrugged and I couldn't help but laugh
"Well this is one of the best surprises ever" I kissed her forehead
"Where's my brother? I miss Kairo" She pouted
"He's with Dave he should be here any minute" I assured her taking a seat in the bed next to her
She laid her head on me and I just started massaging her head
"She kept wondering what time you were coming! She was so excited to see you and Kairo" Ant's dad said
"I bet. Kairo senses she's gone too. He just be looking around for her"
"Des can I talk to you in the hallway for a minute?" His mom asked
I nodded my head proceeding to get up when Heaven grabbed me
"Don't leave me"
"I'm not leaving you baby. I'm just going to talk to grandma real quick okay" I told her softly and she nodded letting me go
I followed his mom out into the hallway where she closed the door making sure nobody heard us
"So the doctors told us that she recovered really quickly and they're honestly surprised at her recovery and how she woke up like nothing happened" She said and I couldn't help but smile
"She's a fighter. She knew she couldn't give up on us" I laughed a bit
"She sure is. Just like her father except this time he was tired of fighting"
"Yeah but he lived the best life he could and look at the angel he left us" I said looking back in the room seeing Heaven playing with her grandpa
"He sure did. The doctors said if she keeps it up then she'll be able to go home within the next few days which is what I wanted to talk to you about. The living arrangement. Since Ant isn't here and he had primary custody and you guys were co parenting I don't know what you wanted to do. If you want us to sign all rights over to you or do you want us to take her off your hands sweetie" She said
"I want all rights if possible. There's no way I can give her up so easily" I told her and she just smiled grabbing my hand
"You do not realize what an angel you are. My son wasn't wrong about you. He told us the minute he saw you that you were somebody he needed in his life. He was in love with you Desire and what made him fall even more in love with you was the fact that you love that child more than anything in this world. Thank you for taking our grandbaby in and giving her that motherly love that she deserves. The fact that you were 18 when she was barely 4 and you didn't even hesitate to take her in regardless of your financial situation. We can't thank you enough for what you've done. You pushed my son to do better and you're raising my grandchild to be a wonderful intelligent young lady"
"You don't have to thank me. It's honestly an honor having both of them as part of my life. Ant came in my life when I thought everything was going downhill. Even though we didn't last because my heart belongs to someone else he still stayed and brought Heaven into my life who filled the emptiness I had in my heart. I'm more than grateful for that little girl that you have no idea so until the day I die I will protect her with my life. Blood doesn't mean anything to" I told her
Honestly hearing that Ant was still in love with me was a surprised to me because I thought he had moved on but if what his mom is saying is true then it hurts to know that he wasn't able to be fully happy with another female because he deserved to be happy.
"Here. I found this note in my sons bag and it's assigned to you" She passed me the note "I love you Desire I will sign everything over to you"She kissed my cheek before walking in leaving me in the hallway looking at note that had my name written on it.
"Hey" I heard Dave's voice from behind me
I quickly wiped my tears turning to face him and my baby
"What's wrong?" He asked as his whole demeanor got serious
"Nothing, she's awake" I smiled and his whole demeanor now soften and tears formed on his face
"You serious?" He asked
"Yes! She's awake and healthier than ever"
He made his way in quickly
"Dave" Heaven's voice squealed and I heard Kairo going Crazy as well "Brother" she opened her arms for him and he quickly tried to get out of Dave's arms
I thought it was the cutest thing ever. The love those two have for each other nothing less than amazing and i couldn't be more happy to have my baby girl and baby boy here with me.
I pulled out my phone sending Carter and Kain a text letting them know.
At this point I just hoped nothing came to take my happiness away
Our baby girl is back and better than ever 💛
