A/n: geez I'm such a child, I love fantasy royalty stories. I'm having way too much fun with this AU.

It's been almost 9 months since you ran off with L, the boys had kept your whereabouts secret for some time now, but they knew that the kingdom would slowly fall apart without L, as he was the one running all the crime clean up.

They missed him a lot, they missed the horse riding lessons with him, the games of tag in the garden, the bedtime stories, they wanted him back. But they knew that his love for you was too strong. All this time the king had been so torn, he was stuck between wanting his foster son back and letting him thrive off the one he loves, and keeping the kingdom stable. But that was all about to change as Near decided that enough was enough.

The small prince looked over at his sleeping brothers, working up the courage to face the king alone. It was late, much past his bedtime, but this had been keeping him up for nights on end. Now that Kira was locked in the dungeons, there was one less thing for the kingdom to worry about. If there was any time, it was now.

He wandered down the long halls of the castle, avoiding the guards that would escort him back to bed. He snuck through the winding halls and stair cases until he finally reached the kings office.

You see, while the boys thought of L as their dad-figure, that made King Wammy their grandpa-figure. If the king wouldn't even listen to his own grandson, things were going to remain without L forever. But Near knew that deep down, the king wanted the best for L.

"Mr. Wammy?" He said in a small voice, peeking around the large doors.

"Near? What are you doing up this late?" The king replied.

"I have something to tell you..."

The small boy was lifted into the kings lap, he was still very tiny for an 8 year old.

"I- I know where L is..."

"You do? That's great-"

"But... let me explain..."

The king fell silent, letting the boy explain himself.

"Last year, I noticed the girl sneaking into the castle to be with L. I got curious one night and went up to talk to them. I heard them talk about how much they loved each other and when I walked in, they were standing on the balcony holding each other... I promised to keep it a secret if I could dance with them. (Y/n) is really good at singing and dancing and would always drag L into her dances. I want to be as good as her one day. But that's not my point-"

The king listened carefully at the new information he was receiving. He didn't know that the princes knew about all this.

"A few months ago when we went out looking, me, Mello and Matt found them but we didn't talk to them. We watched them, they were on a swing together, swinging back and fourth and singing together... and L never sings for people. She managed to get L to sing, he'd only ever do that for someone he loved a lot. They were laughing and smiling and... I've never seen L so happy before. Please let him marry her. We want L back but we also want him to be happy. Plus... if we had a princess like (y/n)... we'd have a person to look at as a mother. L's so happy with (y/n) even though they have almost nothing. When I talked to (y/n) that night she was so nice, and sung me a lullaby to get me to fall asleep, L loves her... I love her, we all love her. Please... let L marry her..."

The king was silent, he'd never heard this side of the story before. He'd never seen Near look so sad before. And the fact that you managed to get L, the L, the one that always ditched singing lessons to sing? That really said something about you. If L was willing to throw away his crown just to be with you, that means he's really in love.
