Stuck in my head

HC: Songs getting stuck in your head because your soulmate is singing it at the time you're thinking of it.

L had come to the conclusion that his soulmate must be into music, because he was constantly getting songs stuck in his head. Even knew he'd never heard before. Every week it was a new song, sometimes it was pop, sometimes metal, sometimes classical, sometimes in whole other languages, there was no end to it.

Whenever your soulmate sings, you can hear it in your head. Some soulmates have managed to communicate through this but neither your or L have figured out a way to get a solid communication going yet.

Today was... different. All day, all freaking day, L had the same damn song pop up in his head. And it was a god damn bloody meme song. He had no idea why you were singing this song so often, maybe you were out messing around with friends or something?

It was all silent in taskforce when the song suddenly popped up in his mind again, making him flip
His head onto the desk and groan in annoyance.

"You ok?" Light laughed.

"Can she stop singing that damn song for two freaking seconds" L complained.

"What song?"

"...all star"

"Why is she singing all star?" Light asked, trying not to laugh.

"I don't know! I think she must be messing around with friends or something because her taste in music is completely different" L replied.

"What is her taste in music anyway?" Misa asked jumping in.

"It's pretty wide, but anything you hear on the radio is out. It's usually more underground singers genres that radios don't really play. Sometimes it's kind of alternative, sometimes it's English, sometimes it's Japanese or Korean. A bit of rock and a bit of classical. It's basically just a bit of everything"

"Is there a singer she's obsessed with?"

"This one girl called Angel Addison keeps piling up, why?"

"You could try looking for her through her taste in music, maybe she has a fan account or a Spotify playlist?"

He actually hadn't thought of that before.

"Maybe..." he said.

"Like, if the song you're hearing at the time matches up with someone's profile then it could be her" Misa explained.

"That's... actually pretty smart. And if I did the same she could try and find me.."

"Exactly! Make a Spotify account or YouTube playlist and see if anything comes of it"

And so, he did just that. He filled a YouTube playlist and Spotify account with all his favourite songs and set out searching the internet for someone who matched the songs you would constantly sing, making them play on his head. He looked for hours, listening for when you'd start to sing again.

After a while, his mind lit up with music again, a song you seemed to be obsessed with because you sung it all the time. He typed in the name of the song and set out looking for accounts that were listening to it. He went through each account looking for playlists that matched your taste when eventually, he found one.

All the playlists matched your taste. The bio mentioned being a fan of Angel Addison, and that they could play an instrument. That was a green light for L's theory you must be into music. He scrolled through the account until he got to the recently played list.

And sure enough, you were currently listening to the same song he was hearing and just as he'd been hearing all day... all star... over and over and over again.

He'd found you.

All that was left was to slide into those DMs and let you know he'd found you. He thought about what to say, how he's explain it, how you'd react. He typed up the message and sent it off.

Hey, could you like... chill with singing all star? I've been hearing nothing but that damn song for the past few days thanks to you. Like, it's a good meme and all, but I prefer the Angel Addison lol.

May as well be honest right?

After a while, a little notification popped up on his screen, meaning you'd replied. He tapped on the banner and it sent him into the app.

No. Fucking. Way. Dude what song and I singing right now ?

As he read the message another song began to play in his head. This being your way of confirming he was really your soulmate. So he replied.

The little chat bubble popped up.

Dude holy shit you're actually my soulmate. How the hell did you even find me?!

"Hey Misa" L said, making Misa turn to face him.

"Yeah?"

"You were right, I found her"
