It's a Sunday morning, but it doesn't feel like it. Outside, the clouds are covering the sun and soft drizzle falls down my window. There are still many cars out driving today, but the drizzle is soft and music to my ears, blocking out the car horns. I feel happy.

Today is a perfect day to play Fortnite™.

I turn on the TV that James bought for me last year. He's in college right now and I'm actually really impressed and joyful he spent his money on giving me a game console. Mom bought me the Fortnite game though, not me. I didn't know how addicting it was until that one beautiful day...

I pull on my headphones, which has a microphone. I watch my TV screen as Fortnite turns on. I feel like I'm waiting in the pits of hell to become a ghost or something. Because once Fortnite comes back on, I'm alive again.

John is on Fortnite as well, so I join his party.

John is my best friend. He accepts me even though I have a stuttern and even says I don't sound like an idiot. He's one of the few people who say that to me truthfully. I usually can tell when people are lying though, some people have different habits.

"H-Hey J-John." As usual, I sound like I'm crying, but without the tears. My voice breaks a lot too, because puberty.

"Hi." John says to me, his voice breaking as well. We both laugh, because John's voice cracks are always terrible and sound like they come from an evil creature in the depths of the ocean.

We talk for a little bit, but I'm not sure why. Usually, we go straight into a match. It doesn't bother me that much though. My voice gets warmed up for the day and I'm ready to scream and jump around my room as soon as we begin to play.

But then someone else joins our party.

It's a guy I don't know. John squeals excitedly, but I don't really want to talk. Or make any noise.

"Hey, Thomas!" John says happily.

On the other end of the line, I hear a voice, "Hi, John. Who's your friend?"

John is silent for a moment. I don't know if he's just remembering I'm there or waiting for me to say something. We're all silent. I don't want to speak. I think he understands because he answers Thomas instead of me, "Um, Alexander. He... He's kinda shy."

I can tell he came up with that excuse on the spot.

"Okay..." Thomas mumbles, "Don't be shy though. I don't bite."

John hums a song. He doesn't answer Thomas.

Oh, shit.

He wants me to answer Thomas.

"He-Hey, I-I'm Ale-Alex." I whisper. My voice is hardly loud enough to even come out of my mouth, but Thomas hears me. So does John. I can practically sense his smile even though we're across the city from each other. Thomas, meanwhile, doesn't say anything for a while.

Until, "Um, Alex?"

"Ye-Yes?"

We're all tense for a moment. Especially me. I'm red.

"Do you wanna friend me on Fortnite?" Oh. Oh. That was not what I expected him to say, but I glady accept his request. His username is MacNFort.

I love it.

John, Thomas, and I play some Fortnite games together before Thomas has to go. A game later, I hear my mother calling me. I log out of Fortnite, saying goodbye to John. But even after I log out of Fortnite, one specific Fortnite user clouds my mind; MacNFort.

~~~
A few hours later, I'm back to having nothing to do. So, granted, I grab my remote and turn on my TV. I eat a cheese stick as I wait for Fortnite to load.
It does.
And you wouldn't believe who was on.
MacNFort.
I quickly join his party, smiling. He notices me right away, yelling my name.
"Hey." I giggle.
"Hey." He says back.
I can tell we're going to be great friends.
