88- Liam

Liam watched as Zayn stretched his legs, wincing. He then tried to stand up, moving his right leg and putting as little pressure as he could on his left. Trisha smiled and handed him the crutches which Zayn accepted thankfully. Liam stood up from the couch and smiled, nodding towards the door. "Let's take a little tour outside."

Zayn nodded excitedly and began to walk forward, supporting his left leg's weight on the crutches. Liam leaned forward and pushed the strands of hair away from his eyes. Zayn nodded at him as a thanks and Trisha opened the door for him.

There wasn't much to see in the hallway of a hospital, but Zayn's reaction seemed like he'd just gotten himself a ticket to SeaWorld. He took a good look around and Liam led him to the canteen, buying sodas for them both.

"I want to go outside," Zayn said, carefully sitting down in one of the chairs. He grabbed his drink and took a few sips, eyes alight. "God, I just want to go home."

Trisha chuckled. "We all want that, it's just a couple of days and then you're off."

Liam nodded in agreement. "The more rest you get the better you can get."
His phone rang and he pulled it out, answering Harry's call. The boys had found out about him having already arrived in Bradford, and were now using him to get to Zayn since the stubborn chipmunk wouldn't budge.

Lima talked to Harry for a couple minutes before he gave the phone to Zayn, who for once didn't sigh exasperatedly, but instead smiled and accepted it.

Last night Zayn didn't fall asleep, and embarrassingly, Liam did. He'd tried to make Zayn fall asleep, but he'd done been the one to fall asleep. It didn't look like Zayn had slept all night, though he claimed to have gotten an hour's sleep.

By the time they got back to the room, the girls arrived from school. Liam sat back on the couch, giving them some space after having met with everyone once again. He was still determined to break the barrier Zayn was trying to put up, and he now knew where to start.

And so when night began to fall and the girls were about to go home, Trisha told Liam to go with them. Liam declined the offer.

"You look tired, you should go get some sleep at home," Liam suggested, hoping she'd say yes, and it was true, Trisha had looked anything but fresh ever since he'd gotten back.

Trisha stared at him for a couple minutes, then turned her attention to Zayn. "Okay, sure. But make sure he sleeps," she gave him a pointed look. "Zayn doesn't exactly like-"

"I'm right where," Zayn said gloomily. He looked up at Liam. "I don't exactly like to sleep, and when I do, I do when my mum's around. You tried yesterday, you failed. Liam, it's not about trust or anything, it just is how it is."

Even though Zayn's words stung a little, Liam smiled. "No worries, let's see how it is then."

Zayn narrowed his eyes, probably noticing how Liam wasn't backing down this time. And Liam had no intention to either. He'd given Zayn space, he'd respected his decision, now it was time for Zayn to listen to someone else other than his stubborn self.

Trisha smiled as if the matter was solved. "Great then, see you two tomorrow." She grabbed her coat, kissed Zayn's cheek and left the room, but not before turning around and giving Liam a small genuine smile.

It was silent after the door closed and Liam kicked off his shoes to get comfortable. He didn't have any other clothes though, all of them back at the Malik home. Zayn sighed, rubbing his eyes. "If you plan to fall asleep instead of me, tell me right now, it was annoying yesterday."

Though the sentence sounded fake and definitely not Zayn, Liam couldn't help but frown. "Back at it again with the snippy comments?"

Zayn's scowl dropped and he groaned. "Okay, I'm sorry. I just...things have been the same for two weeks, it is how it is and now you want me to adapt a complete new way."

"I haven't seen you in two weeks. Just because I want to stay tonight doesn't mean I'm trying to do anything."

Zayn raised an eyebrow and Liam turned his head to the TV. He sat back on the armchair and flicked through the channels. When he found some movie playing at HBO, he pushed the armchair closer to the bed, crossing his legs on the bed. It was almost like he was sitting beside Zayn, and Liam smiled proudly, grabbing Zayn's arm and pulling it onto his lap. He intertwined their fingers and turned up the volume, getting comfortable.

"Liam, what are you doing?" Zayn asked quietly.

"Making you comfortable," Liam replied. "Now shh, it looks like it just started."

The movie was good, a sci-fi about a robot that was given artificial intelligence. Liam couldn't help but get drawn, paying attention. Beside him, Zayn hadn't pulled his arm away, their hands still intertwined. In addition to that, Zayn had actually made himself comfortable, head resting on the arm of the armchair.

"He's dead now," Zayn whispered as the police neared his location. Liam nodded in agreement, craving some popcorn at the moment.

Once the movie finished, he was half-asleep, the suspense being the only thing that had kept him awake. He let go of Zayn's hand to rub his tired and burning eyes. "Well, that was not a complete waste of time. Who knew random movies on the Telly can be good too?" He turned to look at Zayn, but the lad had fallen asleep. Liam's heart swelled with pride and happiness, knowing how Trisha had strictly mentioned he didn't sleep with anyone else. But here Zayn was, head resting on the arm of the chair, one arm in Liam's lap while the other rested on his stomach, looking the most peaceful in weeks.

Liam carefully placed Zayn's other arm on his stomach, a wide smile tugging on his lips. Mission Accomplished.

Don't worry though, the other ships are coming, but I can't just throw Zouis Ziall and Zarry on top of Ziam. It's all planned out.

It's funny how I shipped hardcore Larry, but I always end up writing more Ziam 🤔
