Okay, so maybe I shouldn't have broken a bunch of desks out of sheer anger. And I really shouldn't have sent a hex towards a mirror. Remind me why I thought that was a good idea again?
Cause now I look like I was trampled by the centaurs, and tomorrow we go home for Easter. Mum is going to have a fit. And I can already hear Ophelia's laugh when she sees me. Can't wait.
"Come on! We're going to be late!" A girl says, dragging her friend out of the Slytherin girl's dorms.
I watch them from my spot on the couch in the common room. The other girl laughs, "Fred's not single anymore dumbass it doesn't matter if you're late to one of his pranks!"
"Hey! Love isn't forever, and who knows? He might just need a shoulder to cry on in a few months and I'm really hoping it's mine."
"Oh gross Rowena!"
"I'm a white man's whore what can I say?"
The girls laugh loudly and walk out of the common room. Leaving me alone again. I try to go back to my notes, trying to get as much studying done before the holidays where I know I'm going to be in the shop or at Nan and Pops for Easter dinner. But I can't focus. I hate it, but I'm curious as to what Freddie has got planned. Whatever it is, it sounds pretty big.
"Merlin's pants," I say under my breath before packing my things together and hurrying out of the common room. I have absolutely no idea where Freddie has set up his things but there are enough people rushing to the door that I figure I'll be safe following them.
There's a massive gathering of people by the quidditch pitch when I get there. Louis is standing on the highest part of the pitch looking down at the people that have gathered, "Good evening fellow Hogwarts students! Thank you all for joining us on this wonderful night. We appreciate it we really do!" Louis shouts, he's using his wand to amplify his voice. "As the holidays approach us and the stress of our NEWTs OWLs and just our final exams are starting to build up, we thought, hmm? What is a great way to boost morale around here because our professors are pretty god awful at it!"
The crowd has nearly doubled in size since I've got here. Nearly the entire school is outside now, a few of them using Lumos so they can see in the dark.
"Well, what better way to relieve some stress than a Weasleys' fireworks show!" Louis shouts. Everyone around me starts to cheer and clap really loudly. It's a bit overwhelming. "That's right beautiful humans, you have front row seats to a special Weasley event! Many of these fireworks have never been seen before and won't reach the shelves of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes till this summer! If I were you, I'd start saving my pocket money now because you're not going to want to miss out on these new additions to the Weasley firecracker collection!"
Louis stops addressing the crowd and turns around so he's looking into the pitch. Freddie and Evie climb up to stand beside Louis. "And here he is folks! Your direct link to the best damn joke shop in England! Freddie my boy take it away!"
Fred takes out his own wand and puts it up to his throat, "Thank you, thank you all so much. This is going to be dope as hell so get your phones out, record it, take photos, do what you gotta do! Also...." Freddie stops talking and turns to Evie. Together they pick up a massive bucket, "You all get to try out our new line of Whizbangs!" together Evie and Freddie dump the box into the crowd, whizbangs flying every which way. "Stop by 93 Diagon Alley this summer for more! Show us the video that you took tonight for thirty percent off any and all explosive enterprises!"
Someone tries to give me a Whizbang but I decline. Knowing Freddie, Dad doesn't have a clue that he's doing this. I've got to admit though; it's a really smart way to advertise our new stock.
"Okay! Lou, Evie, you two ready?" Freddie says loudly. The crowd cheers as the three of them step out of view.
It's quiet for a second. Then a loud bang and the entire sky erupts into every colour of the rainbow, It's the firework that Dad was working on for nearly a year. It's one firework that has about three hundred in it. Absolutely massive. Before the colours could fade from the sky four more of them go off in a deafening bang that quite literally shakes the ground under my feet. Then ten bang, bang boggart bangers, and five crystal incantation comets at the same time. It sounds like a movie, the oohs and aahs from the crowd.
Silver sparkling snakes fly into the sky, growing eight times their original size and they move through the smoke in a mesmerizing way. Then, without warning another one of the big fireworks goes off, and the sparkling snakes explode in on themselves.
Freddie has managed to get his hands on every single exploding product we have, bombtastic bombs, box o' rockets, diabolical daredevils, dragon fire, thestral thrashers, it's like he walked into the store and said yes to everything.
The show goes on for about an hour, ending with the new customizable firecrackers that Mum and Dad have been working on. Of course, it's a big image of Freddie and Louis, silently laughing in the sky as a massive orange W explodes behind them.
And everyone absolutely loses their minds. Someone starts chanting 'WEASLEY! WEASLEY! WEASLEY!' and because of a great thing called mob mentality, everyone starts cheering along. Louis, Freddie, and Evie come down from the stands and start giving people high-fives and things. Evie sort of looks like the odd one out because the boys are getting the attention but she looks happy to be included. I leave the crowd of people before Freddie could see me and go back into the Slytherin dorms, making sure I have everything packed for tomorrow.
The next morning I wake up pretty early and change into a pair of sweatpants and my Christmas jumper so I can be comfortable on the train. The train doesn't leave till eleven but I decide to leave the dorm early and just sit by myself for a few hours. I leave the dorm while the other girls are still asleep and take my trunk into the common room. Freddie and Evie are lying on the couch together watching a video on Evie's phone.
When he sees me though he stops everything and sits up, "Your face looks better." He says to me.
I didn't tell him that I managed to cut my face on a desk that I broke and I ended up hexing myself so for all I know, he thinks that someone beat me up. "Yours doesn't," I say to him.
We still haven't talked at all. I genuinely don't think I'll be able to forgive him for the stuff he's been saying to me.
"Evie and her parents are going to be stopping by the shop for dinner over the holiday... if that's alright with you." He adds the last part like it was an afterthought.
"I don't care," I say coldly.
"Listen, you can be mad at me all you want for as long as you want but don't be a dick to my girlfriend."
"I wasn't. I haven't even said a single thing to her."
Freddie looks at me hard but decides to drop it when Evie whispers something to him. I roll my trunk out into the corridor and towards the entrance hall. Evie, coming over and having dinner with the family? That's bound to go wrong.
I sit on a bench by the front door, listening to music. Recently I've been really into The Smiths, something about their music makes me feel less alone in this world somehow.
Someone taps my shoulder, pulling me out of the little trance that I got myself into. Molly is standing in front of me with her arms crossed, "you guys are coming home for Easter?" she says to me.
"Yeah, Mum and Dad don't think that Leah could do a trip back here so we're going to them. Uncle Fred's not too pleased but what can you do?"
Molly chews on her bottom lip for a minute, "How good is Fred at keeping his word?"
I think carefully before I respond, "I'm mad at him right now so I really wouldn't tell him anything personally. But he's good when you're not fighting."
Molly nods slowly, clearly thinking hard. Then she walks away, without another word.
"Oi Cass, been looking for you," Scorpius says as he and Albus come walking over to me. "Dad says that I'm hitching a ride with you back to London and he's gonna stop by to pick me up from yours tomorrow."
"Alright," I say back to him. He sits down on the bench to my left, Albus sits on my right.
"Seriously. What happened to your face?" Al says to me with a smile.
"I'm not telling anyone, especially not you," I say back to him.
Albus looks a little offended, "Why especially not me?"
"You've got the biggest mouth and a thirst for drama that cannot be quenched."
Scorpius snorts, "Who uses the word quenched anymore?"
"Listen if you just came here to make fun of the way I talk..." I start. Both Scorpius and Albus hug me tight.
"You talk like an old woman but that okay!" Albus says which makes Scorpius laugh.
I do my best to hide my smile as I shove the both of them off me, "You people suck you know that?"
Albus stands up, "Come on, it's nearly time to leave."
Albus shoves his hand in my face and I take it so he can pull me up off the bench. We take our trunks and head out of the doors. A few other students are getting their things together around us as we walk up onto the platform and find our usual compartment. Rose and Darcy are already inside. Ever since Darcy kissed me that day we went back to not really talking to each other. I sit beside Rose so that she doesn't have to sit with Scorpius and Albus. She's still not doing the best after finding out that those two are into each other.
Before Darcy can say something cause I know he wants to, Lily and Hugo come in and sit down on the floor like they always do.
"You guys all saw Freddie's firework thing last night right?" Scorpius says. Albus is curled up beside him, playing with the rings on Scorpius's fingers mindlessly. Rose goes a dark shade of red and busies herself with a book.
"Yeah! Cassie, why didn't you tell us that he was going to do something like that?" Darcy says to me.
I half want to say, 'I didn't tell you because you disappeared from my life then you kissed me out of nowhere and then you left again! When I clearly needed someone to talk to!' but instead I just shrug, "He didn't tell me he was doing it. I don't even think Dad knows he pulled that stunt."
Albus looks up from Scorpius's hands, "So he just, told a few hundred people to come to the shop for a discount that your Dad doesn't know about?"
The train pulls out of the station as I talk, "It's Freddie. He's got a knack for business and things. I'm pretty sure he's the one that Dad wants to take over the shop once it gets to that."
"But what about Ophelia? She loves that place."
"There's two locations. And I don't think that either Rose or Hugo want to spend the rest of their lives working at a joke shop."
Rose and Hugo respond at the same time, "Absolutely not."
I look at Albus with one of my eyebrows raised, "See?"
