"I didn't know you could read?" Amar says when we are on the train heading back to Hogwarts.
I flip the page in my Dad's old journal that he gave me, not paying attention.
"Oi! Ginger!" Amar stretches out his leg and kicks the journal out of my hands, "The fuck are you reading?"
I bend over and pick up the book from the floor. "My dad gave it to me. By the looks of things its all of his and my Uncle Fred's prank notes from their time at Hogwarts."
Louis snorts in his sleep and does some weird convulsing thing. Amar watches him for a moment with a look of disgust on his face before looking back at me, "Anything good in there?"
I shrug and open it to the page that I was reading, "There's a bunch of shit in here, some of them have check marks on them and notes saying how good they turned out. Some of them have 'do not have the technology' or 'cannot get to work' written in the margins."
Amar sits up properly and looks at me, "So your dad gave you the ticket to his success is what you're telling me?"
"Yeah, guess so," I say.
Amar kicks me again, "And you're not fucking hyped about it? Christ Weasley, what happened to you?"
"Oh right, cause using my dad's recycled pranks is what I want to be known for," I grumble.
"God do I have to spoon-feed you for the rest of your life? Figure out how to make the ones that didn't work in the nineties, work now!"
I stare at him, blink a few times, Louis groans in his sleep, "Chunky chicken Cheetos." He mumbles.
Amar and I look at him. Then I say, "If those two couldn't figure out how to do this shit, what makes you think I'll be able to figure it out?"
"Cause you've got us. The best team you could ask for." Amar says with a big smile.
"I don't want a titty popsicle thanks," Louis mumbles in his sleep.
I roll my eyes and Amar laughs wildly, "oh yeah real crack team we've got here."
By the time Louis wakes up we're already pulling up to the platform, the train slowing down, people outside of our compartment getting their shit together.
"Oi have you seen this?" Amar says looking at his phone.
"Seen what?" I say, stretching out my back.
"Looks like the newest edition of Hogwarts a History has a shit ton of old pictures of Dumbledore's Army in it," Amar says, still looking at his phone. His smile slowly grows bigger and bigger.
"Okay and?" I get up and pull down my trunk.
Amar stands too, "And, people have started to simp for your Dad." He turns his phone around to show me the screen.
On the screen is a blurry moving picture from the new textbook by the looks of things, of Dad and Uncle Fred practicing hexes in the Room of Requirement when they were in their seventh year. The image just kept replaying over and over, the caption reading, 'Who knew that the Gryffindor ghost was so fine. Time turner + me = Paris in the nineties.'
"Just what I needed, to picture some girl using a time-turner to go back and have a threesome with my dad and uncle," I say, pretending to vomit.
Louis howls with laughter, "Imagine Aunt Vi's face if someone actually tried that. God imagine."
"Imagine your mum's face when someone does the same thing to your dad. He's not safe from this shit either." Amar says. We start to walk off the train.
"Fuck you mean he's not safe from that shit? He was never in Dumbledore's army." Louis says loudly. A few girls turn around to look at us then giggle to themselves.
"Let's see here, shall we? 'Who was going to tell me that the Gryffindor prefect from 1986 was so fit?" Amar says in a very frilly voice.
We get off the train and start to walk towards the carriages, "You dunno that they're talking about my dad." Lou huffs.
"Really? 'My mum says that he was attacked by Fenrir Greyback during the war. A shame really, that face was carved by the Gods' or what about, 'Didn't he marry that chick that competed in the Tri-Wizard tournament?" Amar says, scrolling through different comments on the post about Uncle Bill, "What about, 'The nineties Weasleys are hotter than the 2020 Weasleys, change my mind' that one isn't directed at anyone specifically."
I zone out as Lou and Amar start to bitch like an old married couple. I can see James up ahead getting into a carriage... a carriage with Hannah Torres in it. They sit down facing me, he kisses her and she kisses him back...
"Are you listening to me?" Amar asks.
"Course he's not listening to you, did you not just see that?" Louis says hitting Amar upside the head.
We get into the carriage and it starts to pull away from the rest of them. "Didn't she say that she'd rather kiss you than him?" Louis says to me.
"Uh-huh."
"And she just kissed James again?" Louis says.
"Fucking looks like it." I snap.
Lou and Amar look at each other. "You okay?"
"Peachy."
I decide to skip the welcome back feast and sulk in the common room cause I'm very mature obviously. I change into a pair of sweats and a jumper and light the fire. "Grand staircase slonkies." I read out loud, laughing a bit at the fact that Dad and Uncle Fred had no fucking idea what they were talking about, "Could not figure out a right time to do it because George has been snogging Violet for the past three weeks and Emma keeps walking past when I am mapping the stairs."
It feels like I shouldn't be reading this, it feels like I'm eavesdropping or something. Reading through Dad and Uncle Fred's notes when they were my age, hell even younger than me in the beginning of this book.
Two soft hands snake around my head and cover my eyes, "Guess who?" A quiet voice sings.
I jump away from the person, which makes them take their hands away, "Don't worry Weasley it's just me."
I turn around and watch as Hannah come around the couch and sits down beside me, very close beside me. "Why aren't you at dinner?" I say to her coldly. I'm not really in the mood to deal with her right now. I close the book and put it down beside me.
"Cause you weren't there. I missed you." She starts to lean in close to me and I lean in the opposite direction.
"What the hell Torres?" I say. She stops coming close to me and I swear that there's a hint of hurt in her eyes.
"You don't want to kiss me?" She says with one of her eyebrows raised.
"I saw you snogging James on the way up from the train. I don't kiss other people's girlfriends... not anymore." I say looking right into her eyes. I never really noticed that her eyes are the colour of honey, like her skin.
"That was just us saying goodbye Freddie. Relax." She whispers the relax bit and leans in towards me again.
I grab Dad's old notebook and scramble off of the couch away from her, "We aren't Pokemon Hannah, you can't catch all the Weasleys or whatever the fuck you've got going on."
She gets up from the couch and stands in front of me. She's taller than Poppy but not by much, her forehead is in line with my mouth. "You really think that little of me? Freddie, we've been friends for years now." She says softly, her breath hitting my skin, making me feel all sorts of ways and I don't think any of them are good.
"I dunno what to think anymore. I never thought that I'd do what I did but it happened." I say to her. She doesn't say anything, just stares up at me, "Listen, I fancy you, quite a bit, but not enough to hurt my family. If you want me to snog you or whatever you've got planned in that head of yours then you're going to have to break it off with James... I'm going to bed."
I turn away from her and start to head up the stairs, right before I turn the corner of the staircase I look over my shoulder. Hannah's standing right where I left her, looking where I was standing moments ago. Then she sighs and curls herself up on the couch. I want to go back over to her, comfort her, tell her whatever it is that she wants to hear. But instead, I head up the stairs into my dorm. If she's honestly into me as much as she says she is then she'll do the right thing and break it off with James. If not? Then I guess that's it.
