3rd Pov.
As everyone is sitting in the back of the truck, Kenny has enough of waiting around and looks towards the others. All of their hands are bound in rope and even if they weren't, everyone is too...depressed to do anything.
Kenny: Alright, we gotta do something. Come on. Anyone got anything sharp? Anything? We need to get these bindings off! Hey! Clem, help me find something to get these off. Anything sharp that could cut these...
Rebecca looks at Kenny, annoyed.
Rebecca: And what good is that gonna do?
Kenny: The hell is wrong with you people? We gotta get out of here.
Clementine looks over at Kenny, her thoughts still mostly on Y/n and how he is at the moment. She silently prays that he's fine, but she'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, he's still alright. After a moment of thinking, she asks Kenny what she should look for in order to get out of the ropes.
Clementine: Like what?
Kenny: What do you mean, "like what"? Something sharp. Anything that can help! A fucking--I don't know. Anything! We're in a fucking precarious position here. We gotta do something about that!
The others in the back look at him and try to get him to calm down as the back of the uhaul shakes a little bit as it goes over a bump. Carlos looks at Kenny, much like Rebecca had, but nothing will get through to him.
Carlos: Settle down, Kenny. They took everything. We have to keep a level head.
Rebecca: He's right. You don't know Bill like we do.
Kenny scoffs.
Kenny: Bill? This whole time it's Carver, Carver, Carver, now he's fucking Bill? Oh, I see what it is. Y'all are just getting a ride home, aren't ya? That's what's going on here.
Nick glares at Kenny.
Nick: Say that again.
Kenny: I'd stay out of this, boy.
Nick: Mister, I ain't a boy.
Kenny rolls his eyes.
Kenny: No, right. You're a man...
As the others start to argue with Kenny, Clementine leans back against the wall and starts to play with her hands. While she does she starts to think to herself about Y/n, wondering if he's thinking about her, too.
Clementine: (Mind) Everyone's captured and Y/n's in the hands of some creepy bitch. I swear, I'll figure something out. I'll get him out of there, but not before putting a bullet in her head. There's gotta be something we can do.
She starts looking around the truck for anything sharp as Rebecca continues talking to Kenny. However, it's less talking and more pleading at this point with a mixture of annoyance as well.
Rebecca: You don't understand. He's different... he's worse.
Kenny: The fuck are you talking about?
Rebecca: He wants to punish us.
As Clem hears them talking, she turns her head and looks at Rebecca. A little annoyed about all this, especially with Y/n gone.
Clementine: You could've warned us! Now they have Y/n and we're trapped in here!
Kenny: Yeah, you didn't tell us he was a fucking psychopath! Not to mention that girl of his.
Carlos: You have no idea what you're dealing with!
Kenny yells back.
Kenny: Oh, he gave me a pretty good goddamn idea back at the lodge, and I don't intend to sit around here and let that happen to the rest of us! I'm trying to help!
Carlos: I'm sure Walter really appreciated your help!
Kenny looks down, but Sarita is quick to defend him.
Sarita: That's not fair! You're blaming him for the actions of a madman!
Carlos: I am pointing out that, regardless of intent, there are consequences to rash actions! Something that he seems to be misreading as capitulation!
Kenny: I don't know what the fuck you're saying, but I know it's bullshit! We have to do something!
Sarita turns to Kenny and places her hand on his leg.
Sarita: Kenny...
Rebecca sighs and leans back in frustration.
Rebecca: You can't reason with him.
While she complains, Clementine finally spots a piece of broken pipe inside the u-haul and notices that it looks decently sharp. She looks at Kenny & decides that he's right. This is an opportunity they should take.
Clementine: Kenny, there.
She points it out and he smiles.
Kenny: Oh, shit. Jackpot!
He quickly stands up and goes over to it as the u-haul shakes a little bit more. Meanwhile Carlos looks at him and tells him to sit down as Kenny has already started to cut away at the ropes on him.
Carlos: Sit down. You're going to get us all killed!
Kenny uses the jagged edges of the broken pipe to start cutting through his ties.
Kenny: Y'all don't know what you're talking about. We get cooped up in some kennel like a buncha fucking dogs, it's over.
Rebecca: You don't know that.
Kenny looks back at them while he cuts at his ropes.
Kenny: Yeah? Well, I been in this situation before. You ever been a prisoner?
Carlos: We've all been prisoners. Why do you think we left?
Clementine looks at Carlos and the others in the group as she sides with Kenny on the situation.
Clementine: Kenny's right. We have to do something. We can't just sit here.
Kenny: How is it the kid is the only one that sees what's going on here?
Carlos looks at Clem.
Carlos: Clem, the adults are talking.
Clementine: Is that what this is?
Clementine narrows her eyes at him and Kenny finally cuts through the ropes. After doing so, he steps back.
Kenny: Alright, now we're talking.
Carlos: Carver will be on the other side of that door with ten people.
Sarah starts sobbing in the corner of the u-haul.
Rebecca: There, there, baby. It's okay. Everything's gonna be fine.
Carlos looks down.
Carlos: At this point, maybe Luke is the only hope we have.
Kenny: If he was gonna do something, he'd've done it by now.
Rebecca: Who knows what he's dealing with. Anything can happen out there.
Kenny: I'll tell you what happened: he abandoned us.
Nick, not wanting to believe that, goes against what Kenny says.
Nick: You don't know that.
Kenny looks over at Nick.
Kenny: I know he ain't here.
Rebecca: He may not be around, but he wouldn't just leave us behind.
Kenny: That guy is a flake. I could tell the second I set eyes on him.
Sarita looks at Kenny, pleading with him.
Sarita: Kenny, please calm down. Please.
Kenny: I'm calm, Sarita! I look angry to you?
Not knowing what to think of the situation, Clem simply sits back and thinks that they'll just have to wait.
Clementine: We'll have to wait and see. It's all we can do.
Rebecca: She's right. There's no way to know what's happened to him.
Kenny: I told you already. He's gone.
The truck suddenly shakes as the drive goes over uneven ground.
Carlos: We're close.
Kenny: Okay. Let's do this.
Rebecca: They have guns and Y/n's not here. What exactly do you expect to do?
Kenny: I'm gonna punch the first son of a bitch I see. Then I'm gonna take his gun and use it to shoot the next son of a bitch I see.
Carlos: Just sit down!
Kenny: Shut up, Doc! This ain't your call!
Kenny turns to face Clem.
Kenny: Hey, just... if something happens, just help out, okay? Don't, you know, get yourself hurt or nothing, but any help'd be good. Hey. Clem. Look at me. You trust me, right?
The truck starts to slow.
Sarita: Kenny, please, just... Just listen to them. They know him...what he's capable of.
Clementine: (Nods) Yeah, okay... I trust you. I'll... I'll do what I can.
Kenny nods.
Kenny: Alright. It's okay to be a little scared. But we gotta do this. Alright. Everybody, re-
Before he can finish, the truck suddenly stops and Kenny hits his head against the door and falls down.
Sarita: Kenny! Kenny, are you okay?
Rebecca: Is he okay?
Sarita: I think so.
Kenny slowly leans up.
Kenny: Oh... what hit me?
Carlos: It's probably for the best.
Outside of the truck, Troy can be heard speaking to himself as he complains about the breaks.
Troy: Goddamn brakes ain't working for shit!
Tavia, Bonnie, and Troy open the door as Madison walks up to them with Y/n at her side. The others look at him and he stares back. Clem's eyes widen and she wants to run over to him & check on him, but she knows it's best if she doesn't. Their eyes connect & she mouths something to him.
Clementine: (Mouths) I love you.
He does it back and soon the others inside stand up in the truck, but Troy notices Kenny on the floor without his ropes on.
Troy: The fuck?! How'd you get your restraints off?! Come here!
Troy closes the door after everyone walks out and soon they all start walking the aisles. As they do, they get a clearer look at Carver's large camp. While it may not have been super large, it's a fairly good store size for the amount of people that are here. And there are also plans to go out.
Carver: (P.A) We've got some familiar faces back with us tonight. Now, I understand some of you are confused as to why we'd bring these people back when they left us as they did.
Tavia whispers to herself as she glances back at Rebecca.
Tavia: I think I've got an idea.
She shakes her head as Carver's voice keeps playing over the PA system.
Carver: It might not come all at once, but time will heal these wounds. So be patient with them until it does... and take solace in knowing that they're here to help us make our home a better place. All these feelings you have of anger, betrayal, hate. They're all valid. No one needs to forget what they did... but we do have to find it in our hearts to forgive them.
Clementine and the others who hadn't been there before look at the shelves stocked with food and they're all amazed by how much there is. Y/n looks at the shelves and Madison notices him.
Madison: (Chuckles) You think this is great? You should see all the stuff we've got put away...
Y/n looks at her, but doesn't say anything.
Madison: Aw, don't be like that. If you're good... I might show you some of it. And maybe a little more~
She puts her hand on his shoulder, but he shrugs it off and she quietly laughs while biting her lower lip.
Madison: Y'know...I like when they play hard to get.
Y/n nods to Clementine and looks at Madison. She looks at her, then him, and shrugs.
Madison: Ah, fine, what the hell. Go see your little girlfriend.
For the first time since everything happened and Y/n was taken, he finally smiled. Something that made Madison feel...good. But not in the average way. She shivers a little and without a little notice, Y/n walks over to Clem and the others. He taps her lower back from behind and a moment passes but she finally turns her head.
Clementine: Y/n?
Y/n: Yeah, Clem. It's me.
Clementine smiles and he wraps her in a side hug as they walk. She started squeezing him so much it was like she thought he'd disappear if she let go. Kenny looks at Y/n and sighs in relief after realizing that he's back.
Kenny: I'm glad you're back, kid.
Y/n: Me, too. At least for now.
As they walked and looked at the aisles of food, Clem whispered to Y/n.
Clementine: Look at all the food they have.
Y/n: I know. And apparently there's more that's hidden.
Carver: (PA) As many of you already know, a large herd of lurkers gathers just south of us. We've kept an eye on the movements, and, well, with any luck, it's just passing through. But rest assured that if it does turn our way, it's nothing we can't handle.
Troy looks at Carlos.
Troy: Come on, we need you for something.
Carlos: Can it wait until morning? We're all exhausted.
Troy: Just come the fuck on.
One of the men takes Carlos away and Sarah falls back toward Y/n and Clem, starting to freak out a little.
Sarah: I need him. I need my dad. I can't. He's... he looks after me.
Carver: (PA) Some of you have voiced your concerns about the need for expansion with the looming threat. And they have been taken into consideration. However, this is not up for debate. The expansion project will move forward.
Y/n pats her back.
Y/n: I'm sorry, Sarah. I know you're scared, but everything's going to be fine.
Sarah: I thought we'd never come back here. My dad said we wouldn't... I wish I could talk to him.
Clementine: You will.
Y/n: Yeah. He'll be back sometime today or tomorrow.
Sarah: Thanks, guys.
Y/n and Clem nod to Sarah, helping her to feel better about what had just happened.
Carver: (PA) And with the added manpower joining us this evening, I have no doubt that we will continue to grow and prosper.
Finally the group makes it to the holding area towards the back and Bonnie unlocks the large door. Bonnie looks at the group as it's raised open.
Bonnie: Make sure y'all stay off the fence. Bill can see if you're messing with it.
Carver: (PA) It's no longer enough just to survive, it's our obligation to make this community a beacon of hope.
Nick looks at Bonnie.
Nick: Thanks, Bonnie.
Bonnie: Yup.
