Messi had asked him what he wanted for his 18th birthday. Their dates were very close to each other so it was easy for Messi to remember his birthday every year. Rakitic and Alen were very close. But their relationship was brotherly. While Messi and him had some tension that could not be ceased. They both wanted it. But neither of them chose to act upon it. Messi, because alen was still very young. And his birthday shouldn't change anything. He's still a child.
