Overprotective Lover

"James, don't do that baby," Gerard groans

Newborns can be such a hassle. But they're also so cute. Gerard sighs and picks up the small baby gently.

"Leo takes better care of you," he says softly

His heart still races at the mention and thoughts of his lover, Lionel. He'd expect that small nerve in the pit of his stomach to have disappeared after 3 years of marriage and 7 of dating. But that small feeling will always be there. He can't get rid of it.

"Leo!!" Gerard yells

"In the kitchen!"

"I think the baby is sleepy!"

"Then.. Just.. Being him here!"

Gerard smiles and rushes into the kitchen. Their blue eyed baby, safely in his arms, like it should be. He hands him over, gently and slowly, careful not to heart the small being.

"He's so pretty," Leo says smiling down at their baby

"Just like you," Gerard says looking down at his lover lovingly

"Shut up," Leo blushes

"Careful, do you need help with anything?"

"Nope. Don't treat me like a porcelain doll, Gerard."

"I'm sorry," he chuckles nervously

Gerard has always been very careful with Leo. He treats him like a breakable human. Maybe because to him Leo is breakable. He's so small and gentle. Of course Gerard will worry about him.

"I'm gonna take him to the room."

"Okay."

Maybe Gerard should stop. He knows that Leo doesn't really enjoy being treated like a child. But Gerard doesn't mean to treat him that way. He just wants his husband to be safe.

"It's such a nice day," Leo says breathing in the nice and cool air of October

"It's chilly.. Do you need a sweater?"

"I'm fine."

"Okay.. You get sick easily though," Gerard says

"Stop worrying so much and buy me ice cream," Leo chuckles

"Alright, princess. Let's go!"

Leo chuckles and follows his husband. They've barely been out ever since they adopted James.

"Do you think he will be fine?" Leo asks

Gerard chuckles because, finally! He's not the one who's being a crazy parent.

"He'll be fine. Thiago has a little brother so he's qualified!" Gerard smiles

"I know but.."

"Hey.. Don't worry. Let's enjoy today, okay?"

"Okay."

"Is this seat taken?"

"Uh-"

"Great. My name is Sergio.. I couldn't help to see you were sitting alone.. Someone so beautiful sitting alone sure is strange," the guy chuckles

"That's because he's not alone."

Leo bites down on his lip and groans internally. Gerard isn't fond of strangers flirting with his small husband.

"Oh.."

"Get up and walk away before I hurt you."

"You didn't have to be so mean!" Leo groans

"He was flirting with you! You're fucking married! I know he couldn't have missed that ring!!"

"Gerard.. I know.. But just.. Don't get so violent so quickly... I don't like it," Leo says quietly

"I'm sorry Leo,"

"It's fine. I had a great night."

"Did you really?"

"Yup. I love you," Leo says looking up at him

"I love you too baby."

Gerard has the urge to kiss him. And he feels
Extremely silly because this is his husband and he can kiss him as much as his wants.

"I feel like a teenager every time I'm with you. I feel like I'm still in high school, protecting that cute little nerd from all those preying eyes."

"I will never stop treating you like a breakable human Leo.. And I'm sorry if it bothers you. But please understand that you mean the world to me and I'll never allow anyone to hurt you or try to break you in any way."

"You suffocate me in a good way," is all that Leo says

But that's enough for Cristiano.

"You look good as a dad," Leo laughs happily

"He threw up on my favorite shirt," Gerard pouts

"That's because he was already full and you didn't take away his bottle," Leo sighs

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine. Just be more careful next time if you don't want baby throw up on your shirts."

"Yes sir!"

Leo chuckles.

"We should go out tonight," he says randomly

"Where would you like to go?"

"Anywhere," Leo says

"Hmm.. Well should I call Thiago?"

"No. We should take James.. Let's make it one of those nights," Leo smiles

"Alright," Gerard says kissing him softly

"I'm sorry.. James isn't allowed to date until he's 21."

"D-dad!" James groans

"Oh.. Then I guess I will have to wait a few more years," the young boy says with a nervous smile

"I guess you will. Are you sure you want to though? He's only 16.. " Gerard says with a smirk

"I think I like him enough to do that," the boy says looking at James

Gerard stares at him intensely.

"He's only 16.. And Leo is way too gentle and kind.. I hope you understand that I can't just trust you with my son,"

"Yeah I understand. I promise I'll protect him and I will do everything I can to make him happy. I will wait for as long as I have to until it's okay with you, sir."

The man laughs and Gerard's cheeks grow pink. are his words really that silly?

Gerard sighs loudly.  Leo chuckles.

"Whatever.. "

"Cris.. Welcome to the family," Leo smiles

"R-really?"

"Hurt my son and you'll have to deal with Mr. Grumpy over there," Leo says looking at his husband

"I promise I will protect James. I will never hurt him."

"I'm trusting you with my most precious treasure. Ill kill you if you do anything to him. Anything. "

Leo chuckles nervously.

"Those words sound so familiar."
