The Busker

Y/N

You were set up in your normal spot in Hyde Park where you busked every other day, you loved people gathering around and listening to you strum your guitar and sing songs they requested. You also threw in the occasional original song here and there and if the crowd was right they cheered and gave you some extra money at the end of your set.

However, there was something different this week while you busked. It felt like someone was watching you but when you looked around you couldn't see anyone out of place.

It was a chilly Saturday and your most recent crowd had dispersed after giving generously when you felt someone watching you again. This time you weren't letting the person off, so you scanned the park and noticed some guy leaning against a tree opposite you just out of sight. When he made eye contact with you his eyes widened and he started shuffling his things together. You couldn't let him get away without knowing why he was watching you.

You put your guitar in its case and sling it over your shoulder before you start speed walking towards the stranger.

"Hey you, stop! Why have you been watching me?"

He stands up looking flustered but still has his back to you when you place a hand on his shoulder making him tense up.

"Who are you? Why have you been watching me?"

"Err I'm no one, just a casual observer."

His voice sounded familiar as if you'd heard it somewhere before. Plucking up the courage you step in front of him and pull his hood down before gasping and standing back. The one and only Gerard Way, you were obsessed with My Chemical Romance and had followed Gerard throughout his solo career, was stood in front of you looking scared.

"Why is Gerard Way lurking in Hyde Park watching some busker?"

He shuffles nervously on the spot and scratches the back of his head.

"I'm in London for a couple of weeks and just needed to find somewhere to gain inspiration for my comic series. One day I heard you play and I came back every day hoping to see you again, sorry I'm not a stalker."

GERARD

I expected her to run away but instead, she grins and claps her gloved hands together. The first time I laid eyes on her singing I was enthralled by her presence, she knew how to hook people and put on a show. She also didn't seem to care about her appearance. She wore ripped skinny jeans with scuffed combat boots, an old MCR tank with a multicoloured cardigan over the top and mittens to keep her hands warm. Her hair was thrown up in a messy bun and a beanie fell half on half off from running up to me, she was a beautiful creature.

"I didn't think someone like you would get writer's block, Gerard. Did you find your inspiration?"

I nod and pull my sketchbook out reluctantly and flip it open to my sketches from the last week. It was now or never whether this girl whose name I didn't know would be freaked out or not. I show them to her and she didn't seem distressed, well her face wasn't showing any distraught emotion.

"Wow these are good Gerard, but why does it look like me?"

"Because I needed to create a badass female character and there was something about you that drew me in. I'm sorry if it comes across as creepy, but you are my inspiration...err...sorry but what's your name?"

She laughs and hands me the sketchbook back and shoves her hands in her cardigan pockets.

"I'm y/n, it's very nice to meet you Gerard and I'm flattered I could help you find your inspiration."

y/n, that was a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. It also looked like I had the name for my character. I wanted to spend more time with y/n getting to know her, not only for research but because I felt drawn to her in more ways than one.

"y/n would you maybe like to grab a coffee with me? I mean only if you want to."

"I would love some coffee its bloody freezing standing around outside facing the elements, Gerard."

Her accent was unique, it didn't sound quite southern but more northern. I put my sketchbook back in my bag and she repositioned her guitar case over her shoulder before I offered her my arm and she quirked an eyebrow before linking her arm through mine.

"You're such a gentleman, Mr Way."

I smile warmly at her and shake my head as we make our way out of the park. I had a feeling this was going to be the start of a great friendship and maybe something more in the future.
