"Michelle who get shot???" Ry's voice pulls my attention from my personal phone.
*Shot?*
Dat she say bus head...
It takes less than a millisecond for me to analyze what she said before my mind switches.
I grab the phone from her hold, wanting to hear this myself.
*Cause di f*ck dem mean?*
"Michelle wah yuh say come dung?" I ask, now fighting my patience.
She a cry and mi nuh wah seem like I lack empathy, but me ago need the answer.
*Quickly*
'We.umm... alla we rounda Big Wall fi likkle bit and then we lef ago home and stop pah Red Hi-"

"Michelle... who get shot?" I ask, as calmly as I can, from the state my mind is in right now.
"Li-" she's cut off by her own tiny scream of fright.
I look to Ry' who's now picking up my work phone. 'PAW' she mouths to me and I nod, granting her permission to pick it up.
My attention then moves back to the conversation with Michelle.
All mah hear right now is shuffling...

'Gimi the phone nuh' I hear Slyme's voice from the background.

There's more shuffling and Michelle continues to mumble in the back before Slyme's voice comes across the speakers.
"Man dem shoot up Maxine Red Hills Road endz" he gets right to the point.

We just lef the one near Treez bredda....
"Bullet lick mi vest and Michelle a bawl like me dead" he hisses. "Shoota dem want it look like a Grants Pen ting but Gully man dem nuh buil up yah so."

She looks at me, waiting for my response.

"Mah watch him talk to supposedly you right now...get shot too..." he trails off, voice holding comedy but serious.
"Ry' have him pon my phone" I share the detail "Yah think weh mah think?"
"Yeah man... definitely wrong news bring. The Treez shop dem did fi spray, somebody never tell dem weh exactly yuh deh"

I bring my fingers up, beckoning for Ry' to hand me the work phone.
She does and I end the call she has going with Paw.
"Mek me talk to Paw..." I instruct Liam.
The line goes silent...
