1 what inspired the idea of your story?
I was mostly inspired by African folklore and all the fantasy books I have ever read. Especially J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Nnedi Okorafor's Who fears death.
2 what was something you struggled with for your story ?
Depicting fight scenes.
3 what has been the overall response to your story from your readers?
I have been getting mostly positive feedback. People seem to like the story.
4 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?
The characters and the magic!
5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series?
It's part of a three-book series called Daughters of Afara.
6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?
All you need to survive is right there, in you.
7 what's a piece of advice you would provide to another writer, when it comes to focusing on their story?
Write it! Don't leave it in your head. Don't be afraid to let your voice be heard.
8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?
Yes. She tends to be a bit impulsive.
9 what's something you believe would draw in new readers?
The sub-genre itself Epic African fantasy isn't as well trodden as some others so it still has novelty on its side.
10 do you have any future projects?
Yes. Book two and three of the series (Daughters of Afara)
