November 29, 1997

"Shut up!" Alecto Carrow shouted to her sixth year Muggle Studies class.

I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes attempted to rid myself of the now pounding headache I have.

Her and the Gryffindors have been at it all day.

"You can't be serious," Neville Longbottom argued. "It was so long ago!"

"What does it matter? They destroyed Wizard kind!" Alecto shrieked.

"And haven't we done enough damage!" Seamus Finnigan defended Neville.

"Not even quite! Now, if you don't shut your stupid mouths, I'll have to give you a detention." Said Alecto.

Her angered expression turned into a smirk as she watched the brave expressions on the two Gryffindor's faces turn into scared frowns.

"Now let's see, Mr Finnigan, you're Half-Blood?" She questioned.

"Yes?" Seamus answered in a bit of an attitude.

"And Mr Longbottom, this is your 4th detention this year." She commented.

"Yes." Neville said sitting tall.

She giggled softly and slowly walked up to their desks. "I think two weeks detention will serve you right."

"Two weeks?!" Seamus jumped up from his seat.

"Yes, Mr. Finnigan; 2 weeks. I won't hesitate to make it 3." She snapped.

Seamus lowered himself slowly, eyeing Alecto with a passionate hatred.

Neville sat back in his chair, arms crossed. It was clear that he was trying to bite his tongue.

"Detention starts tonight, in the Dark Arts classroom. 7 o'clock," Alecto growled. "Do not be late."

He already knew what kind of punishment detention had in store for them.

Pansy sat in beside me, leaning on the table with her hands over her ears.

Blaise was in this class too but he decided to sit beside Crabbe.

Well, not necessarily decided. Him and Pansy fought over who was going to sit with me for a couple minutes before Alecto yelled at them and ordered Blaise to sit with Crabbe.

I picked up my quill and started writing down the watered version of what Alecto was saying about Muggles.

"Muggles are useless," Alecto began, detest in her tone. "They're why we've been in hiding for so many years..."

Alecto and Amycus' lessons have always been boring. They talk about the same things over and over.

Especially Alecto.

So, I zoned out. Muggle Studies wasn't important anyway.

Plus, I've already heard this lesson like 30 times.

I started feeling compulsive. I need my fucking diary.

I knew where it was; it was in my dorm underneath Draco's and my bed.

But for some reason, my chest tightened and I gazed around the room, panicking.

Pansy looked as if she were about to fall asleep but kept snapping out of it. A reoccurring cycle for her in this class.

I kept my composure, not wanting to expose myself any further and sat up straight in my seat, taking deep, steady breaths.

Focusing on the diary and where it was, I didn't even realize when Alecto said. "You can go."

Chairs squeaked against the floors and the students shoved passed each other to get out of Alecto's sight.

I felt a light tap on my shoulder and gazed up at a confused Pansy. "Are you coming?" She asked.

"Yes." I answered a bit to quickly. I stood up and followed her to the door.

"Wait, Y/N. May I have a word?" Alecto questioned sternly from the end of the room.

I turned. "Yeah, I guess."

Pansy looked at me and I shrugged.

"Miss Parkinson, go back to your common room." Alecto snapped.

Pansy left in a hurry, not wanting to get in shit.

"Yes?" I asked the witch in front of me with an attitude.

I needed to get to my diary.

Alecto scoffed. "I was just telling you to tell Draco that he has to come with you tonight to Amycus' office to initiate the punishments on Mr. Finnigan and Mr. Longbottom."

"Fine," I hissed. "Anything else?"

"No. Leave." She insisted.

She didn't need to tell me twice. I hitched my bag higher on my shoulder and ran out of her classroom that once belonged to a woman who I had seen be murdered.

Muggle Studies was luckily the last class of the day.

I headed down to the dungeons and skidded when I reached the two gargoyles guarding the wall.

They parted once I said the password and I rushed in.

Pansy, Theo and Kayden were sitting on the couch. Pansy and Theo were in deep conversation about the Carrows and Kayden was picking at peeling leather from the couch.

Kayden greeted me. "Hey Y/N, what's-" he started but once I didn't answer him he followed after me.

The other two didn't seem to notice.

I rushed up the staircase and down the boys corridor to get to my shared room with Draco.

Draco's class, Herbology was in the Gardens which means he would have to cross the Grounds before getting into the castle resulting in him being later than the rest of us.

That means our room will be empty.

I skidded to a stop at the door and unlocked it. I pushed the door open and slammed it shut once I entered the room.

I peered under the bed and the pounding in my heart eased when I saw the black leather book resting there.

Sliding my hand over the diary, I pulled it out and sighed with heavy relief.

From my book bag, I pulled out an ink jar and a quill. My diary laid sprawled open on the floor and I sat on my knees. I needed to get this done quickly.

I dipped my quill in ink and found a page I knew to be empty.

But as I brought my ink stained quill to the yellow tinted pages of my precious diary, the door swung open.

Kayden walked towards me. "What's wrong with you?" He asked me.

I threw the quill in a panic and slammed the diary shut. "Nothing."

"Not nothing," Kayden said. "I know something's going on. You don't just disappear the nigh Dumbledore dies without telling anybody where you are. You don't just go missing for three months and then act like nothing happened."

"I wasn't missing." I told him.

He argued and started counting on his fingers. "Hannah went missing, we don't talk about that, do we? You get angry for no reason and freak out and you have this obsession with that fucking diary. I have a feeling that's all connected."

My mouth went dry and a lump took form in my throat. He knew.

I felt my lip tremble. "And why is it you think I have something to do with Hannah's disappearance, huh?"

"You want to fucking kill her, don't you?" He asked. His expression was a mixture of anger and worrisome. "Why did you leave with no trace on where you were going, Y/N? Tell me."

"No, Buckley. It's none of your fucking business!" I shouted. "I have nothing to do with Hannah."

He looked up to the ceiling of the room and looked back at me as if he was about to break down. "Don't tell me you were where I think you were. Please prove me wrong, Y/N. Tell me where you were."

I shook my head and turned back to the diary. "Buckley, go away."

"Please just tell me." His voice started getting angrier.

"I will hex you." I said, still avoiding my gaze.

He scoffed. "And I'll hex you right back. Tell me where you were."

"With Draco." I covered up. "In a Muggle town for the Summer."

He laughed darkly. "That's the most bullshit answer you could've given me."

I turned to him and snapped. "Well, that's all you're going to get! Leave!"

"No!" He snapped right back at me. I picked up my wand and pointed it at him.

"Stupify!" I shouted.

I didn't even realize he had his wand behind his back. He sprung it out and blocked it. "Protego."

The spell hit back to me and I fell back. I was sitting down so I didn't hurt myself as hard but I still fell a foot or two away from my diary.

Kayden kneeled forward and picked up the diary. He turned it over in his hands. "Why are you so addicted to this thing?"

I sat up and scrambled back to my original spot and held my hand out. "Give it back."

He flipped through the empty pages and his face contorted. Then, he handed it back. "Fine."

Kayden got to his feet and turned to the door. He was almost out when he said. "I will find out what's going on. I already have a clue, you know."

He left the room and I paused.

Kayden already has a clue on what I'm up to... does that mean he knows I'm a Death Eater?

What will he do when he finds out?

I opened my diary again and scribbled about my encounter with Kayden and my day.

It took maybe 30 minutes and as I was finishing up, Draco walked in.

He shut the door gently. I cast a silent spell that would make the ink on the pages invisible to outside readers.

I shut the diary carefully and held it in my arms as Draco took his seat on the floor next to me. "What happened?" He asked. "With Buckley."

"I think he knows we're Death Eaters," I said, calmly. "I mean, he probably heard what Potter said and is piecing together all the extra information with it."

"What was he asking you?"

"Where I was this Summer. He was also saying things like 'please don't tell me you were where I think you were' and stuff like that." I admitted.

Draco's grey eyes hooked to the book in my arms. "Did he ask you about that?"

"Yes," I commented. "But he didn't see anything inside it."

"Why do you write in that thing in the first place?" He scoffed.

I sighed, my breath slightly shaking as I did so. I placed the book down face up and took off the curse hiding the name on the front.

Very slowly, each letter took it's spot on the cover revealing my name.

"That's why," I said as the last name 'Riddle' took it's spot on the leather covering. "The Dark Lord ordered me to write in it."

He stared at the gold letters on the book. "He ordered you to?"

"Yeah, why?" I questioned.

"Don't you think that's a little odd?" Asked Draco, eyebrow raised.

I thought for a moment. It is a little bit odd. The connection I have with it now after confiding with it. Did he know, the Dark Lord?

But I would rather confide in the book than be ridiculed and punished by my father for not doing it at all.

"It's the Dark Lord's orders, Draco. What does it matter?" I scoffed now.

Draco sighed. "I'm just worried about you is all."

"I'm fine, truly," I insisted. "That reminds me, shit. Tonight we have to go down to the Dark Arts classroom with the Carrows. Longbottom and Finnigan are in trouble again."

"What did they do this time?" He groaned.

"Argued with Alecto during Muggle Studies." I answered.

"Gryffindors are so fucking stupid sometimes. They never know when to shut up about something. They always think they're so 'brave'." Draco retorted.

I laughed softly. "Honestly, it's annoying."

"When does Alecto want us there?"

"7:00."

I waved my wand over the gold words on the diary and they were gone once more. I slid it back under our bed and put the ink jar and quill back in my book bag.

"It's 5:00 right now. What do you reckon we should do to pass the time?" Draco asked as I made my way beside him.

I smirked. "I mean, I have an idea."

"And what is that?"

I turned to face the door. "Colloportus, Muffilato."

Both of the spells acted accordingly and I watched as the door morphed with it's hinges and the blue wisps engulfed it.

Facing Draco, I found he was rather amused. "I like this idea." He smirked.
