"i'm trying matthew. you have longer legs than me."
you tried to catch up with matthew as he ran from the tkachuk's cabin to the lake in pure darkness. both of you had a towel in hand as you made your way through the warm summer night.
"i really hope you're right that everyone is sleeping matthew or i'm going to kill you." you threatened.
"it's 2am gianna. if everyone isn't asleep, that'll be shocking." matthew reassured.
"yeah, but you know brady doesn't go to sleep early matt." you reminded.
"trust me, everyone is sleeping."
you sighed and shook your head with a smile.
"i really, really hope you're right."
matthew smiles and begins to shed off his clothes. you quickly followed his lead.
matthew had come up with this ingenious idea earlier in the day. he wanted to go skinny dipping and you being a great girlfriend and slightly dumb, agreed. obviously you forgot that you were staying with matthew's entire family for the week at their cabin.
as soon as your body hit the water, you hissed quietly.
"shit, it's cold."
matthew chuckled and got in the water as well.
"it's not that bad, baby."
"yeah, says the hockey player." you rolled your eyes.
matthew laughed and pulled your body closer to his.
"here. you can have some of my body heat."
you cuddled into matthew to hopefully steal some of the heat that he had.
matthew smirked and plunged underwater to swim away from you.
your body shuddered at the lack of body warmth.
"you asshole!" you whisper-yelled and began to swim in his direction.
his head came up from under the water and revealed his now dripping brunette curls.
"aw." you swam towards him and wrapped your legs around his torso.
"you look so beautiful in the moonlight." matthew whispered.
"you just know how to say the right things." you replied.
you grabbed the sides of his face and kissed him. matthew immediately began to kiss back while holding you up in the water.
"OH MY GOD TARYN, YOU WERE RIGHT." you heard a voice exclaim behind you.
you and matthew stopped kissing and looked back in surprise.
you saw brady standing there in baby blue teddy bear pajama pants. you looked up the path brady had come down to see that taryn was now running down to join brady.
"see i told you brady." taryn said pointing at you two.
you and matthew sat in the water just staring at the two younger siblings.
"you guys are gross, just saying." brady said.
"nice pants brady." you commented with a smirk.
everyone looked down at brady's pants and for a second the attention was off of you and matthew naked in the lake.
"they're soft y/n. don't expect anything less from me either." brady said in defense of his teddy bear pants.
you nodded with your eyebrow raised. i mean he wasn't wrong, you didn't expect anything less or more of him.
"anyway back to the real problem. why are you in matthew naked in the lake at," he glanced at his phone quickly, "2:23 in the morning?"
"um it was warm in the house?" matthew said.
"no it's not." taryn quickly shut that down.
"it was matthew's idea." you said and pointed a finger at your boyfriend.
"hey. way to throw me under the bus y/n. love you too." matthew scoffed.
you shrugged with a mischievous grin.
"well we assumed it was his idea." taryn said.
"wait ew. please don't tell me you guys were having-"
"BRADY!" you stopped him from continuing, "no brady, just no."
"good." he nodded with a disgusted look.
"can you guys fuck off so we can put our clothes back on since you ruined this?" matthew asked.
"roger that." brady said and pulled taryn with him back into the house.
"wow matty. they sure were sleeping." you rolled your eyes with sarcasm lacing your tone.
"i was wrong." he mumbled.
"you absolutely were."
the two of you dried off quickly and got your clothes back on. you made your way back up the cabin, slid the door open, and climbed into bed.
"mom and dad, guess what. gianna and matthew were skinny dipping in the lake-"
