that's how long that you and pekka have been together.
you had been caught up in the grind of his hockey career and everything that went along with it, but you still loved each other to no end.
the love was there, but the special little dates weren't anymore.
you would love to go on them more like you used to, but it wasn't a reality with both of your heavy schedules usually intersecting.
of course, pekka had noticed that. he noticed almost everything.
he noticed that the two of you hadn't gotten the time to just sit and enjoy each other's comfort in a long time. he missed it just as much as you did.
the longing for it made him come up with a quick plan.
you came home one day to see a bouquet of flowers waiting for you in pekka's arms.
you set down your stuff and walked towards him, "what's all this about?" you asked.
"i just wanted to do something special for you." he said and hugged you.
you kissed his temple and smiled, "well thank you very much my love. this very sweet."
"can i take you in a date tonight?" he asked.
you smiled big.
you couldn't remember the last time you had been on a proper date. you usually made dates out of team events and such.
"of course you can. how should i dress?" you asked.
"semi formal should be fine sweetheart." he told you.
you nodded and walked off. pekka followed behind you.
"oh i actually set out an outfit for the both of us on the bed" he said.
you nodded and slipped the outfit on your body. it looked extremely familiar, but you couldn't exactly pinpoint where or when it was from.
you looked over at pekka and thought the same thing.
you brushed it off and took pekka's hand. he turned and kissed your lips very gently.
"where are we off to?" you asked him curiously.
"it's a surprise." he said and kissed your hand before guiding you out of the house and into the car.
the restaurant ended up being the one where you had your first date at.
"baby, this is so cute." you said and looked up at him.
"all for you darling. you deserve it." he said.
you even sat at the same table where you first met. you let the sweet memories rush into your head as you reminisced.
"i love it here." you whispered.
"so do i. i met my love here." he said.
you blushed gently and held his hand under the table.
you ate and talked gently. it was rejuvenating to have an off day with the ones you loved.
"what do you have planned now?" you asked pekka as you both finished eating.
"home." he said and looked up at you with a smile.
when you got home, he got out a few board games and offered them to you. you nodded quickly and pointed at the one you wanted to play first.
the rest of the night was spent with playful bicker about the games that you were playing.
"pekka, you're cheating!" you complained and he laughed and shook his head.
after a while, it hit you like a truck.
"you just recreated our entire first date." you gasped.
pekka smiled and nodded, "yes i did and it was one of the best things i've done in my life, now and then."
you smiled and walked across the table. you hugged him tight and kissed all over his face.
"thank you. i love you."
"i love you too." he whispered, "i loved everything about you before, i love everything about you now, and i will love everything about you in the future"
you smiled and climbed into his arms.
pekka picked you up and took you to bed because after 7 years of love, you can make a little cuddling adjustment to the recreation of the first date.
