"i really miss you." were the words you saw when you opened your phone in the morning.

you had stayed in montréal because of some personal issues when max had gotten traded to the columbus blue jackets.

you didn't get to see him in person very often and that destroyed both of your hearts.

that text prompted you to start planning a getaway to go and visit max after a road game he had in canada.

you were going to be driving from montréal to ottawa to watch max play.

you were excited to surprise your boyfriend with a visit he much needed. he knew because of the frequent texts and facetime calls you were getting.

you were wiggly as you drove into canada's capital city. you knew you were one step closer to seeing max in person.

you had reached out to one of his teammates and told him the surprise you were planning.

the teammate got you a ticket and a pass to come back by the locker rooms after the game was finished.

you cheered loudly as columbus played.

you were overjoyed to see them get the 2 points from this trip as well. that would certainly make max even more happy when he saw you.

you bounded down to the dressing rooms and waited outside. you tapped your foot as you waited patiently.

slowly, the boys began to file out and watched with keen eyesight for your boyfriend.

"max!" you exclaimed and ran over to him when you saw him.

max's eyes were wide open and he opened his arms to pick you up. your lips were peppered with kisses from his.

"what the hell y/n? what are you doing here baby?" he asked with the biggest grin on his face.

"i missed you so much" you said and placed your head on his shoulder.

"i missed you too" he whispered back and kissed your temple.

the players were called onto the team bus and you drove to the hotel that they were staying at. you would be staying with max for the night.

he was waiting for you outside when you arrived.

"i can't believe you're even here. it feels like i'm dreaming" he said and looked over at you while the elevator was going up.

you pinched him gently, "look, i'm still here" you chuckled.

max smiled and pulled you in by your hips so he could kiss your lips.

you smiled against his soft, pink lips and pulled away to look at him.

"i missed you love." max whispered as the door of the elevator opened.

"i missed you more." you mumbled.

"i don't think that's possible." max told you and carried you the rest of the way to his room.

he threw you gently onto the bed and you motioned for him to join you. he did and you laid there together like you used to.

"you have to come to columbus soon. i miss you way too much." max begged.

you smiled and looked at him, "i will be there sooner than you think max."

"but how soon?" he groaned

"how does next month sound?"
