just some context for this story: you are a big canadian singer. like very famous. ok thanks 😊

tonight you would be performing the national anthem at the scotiabank saddledome before the flames take on the edmonton oilers.

being from calgary, you were pretty hype to see this rivalry go down. growing up, your family were always huge flames fans, going to games as often as possible. now you were given the opportunity of singing the national anthem, doing the opening faceoff, and meeting the players. it was surreal, the epitome of a childhood dream.

you slipped on a black hoodie and layered your gaudreau jersey over top of it as you walked out of your penthouse. you made your way to the saddledome, where the paparazzi had been waiting. secretly, these fools were wishing that you had walked in with your rumored boyfriend shawn mendes, but, in actuality, you and shawn were just friends and you were very single. too bad.

you were welcomed into the flames' dressing room before the big game to announce the starting line up. soon after, you left the dressing room to get ready to drop the puck and sing.

"please welcome calgary native, flames superfan, and canadian singer, y/n y/l/n!" the announcer said over the mic.

the crowd erupted in cheers as you walked out onto the ice, waving and smiling to all the flames fans.

"can we get captains from both teams to center ice to take the opening faceoff"

mark giordano and connor mcdavid skated to center ice. you dropped the puck and both players shook your hand and greeted you.

after that, you belted out the canadian national anthem. now, it was game time and as expected the game was chippy. it was no surprise since these teams had been rivals for years. it was a great game, going back and forth. both teams having their ups and downs.

in the end, calgary ended up winning 4-3. you walked down to the dressing room after all the players had got done with their post game interviews. as you were conversing with some of the flames, you spotted one of the players staring at you. you mad eye contact and he began to blush. you smiled at him as he turned away to hide his red cheeks.

"y/n." you turned around to see mikael backlund.
"yeah?" you waited for him to continue.
"okay so my friend over there, his name is matthew tkachuk." you nodded signaling you were following, "he thinks you're very pretty, you're his celebrity crush, but he's too nervous to come over to talk to you."
"aww. that's so cute. tell him to come over here. i'd love to meet him." you said genuinely.

you had to admit matthew was a cutie. his light brown curls were enough to fall in love with. along with the little blush earlier. ahhhh

you looked over again and saw mikael practically dragging a resisting matthew over to you. you giggled at the bickering boys.

"ok y/n, like i said this is matthew." he said exhausted from pulling matthew over, "have fun kids." he ran away.

"hi matthew, i'm y/n." you said smiling bright at him.
"matthew, though mikael had already told you." he said shyly.
"don't be so shy matthew. i heard you called me cute." you smirked at him.
"oh yeah. cause you are." he said, glancing at the floor.
"well i think you're quite handsome yourself. i love your hair so much." you said, confidently.
"thank you." he looked up at you with a light smiled.
"do you think you might want to go to dinner sometime?" you asked.
"yeah i'd like that a lot." matthew smiled brightly.
"great. here's my number. i'll text you tonight."

you quickly scrawled put your number on a piece of paper and handed it to him. you kissed his cheek and once again they turned into a blush pink color.

"bye." you waved.
"bye y/n." he responded.

"THANK YOU MIKAEL!" matthew yelled excitedly to his wingman.

you laughed loudly as you walked down the hall.
