"GO WILLIAM" you screamed as he gained speed for a breakaway.

tonight was one of the nights where all the WAGS would come to the game. every single one of you girls were so supportive of everyone else.

everyone laughed and clapped as you cheered obnoxiously for your husband.

suddenly, the whole box went quiet.

the whole stadium went quiet.

silence.

the defenseman behind william went for the poke check but instead of hitting the puck, he hit william's skate causing him to fall and, at full speed, slam into the boards behind the net.

he wasn't moving. he went into the boards in an awkward position. his knee and his head went into the boards first. it looked terrible.

your hand covered your mouth in disbelief. the WAGS gathered around you and gave you a group hug and reassuring words that he would be fine.

quickly, you collected all your belongings and ran as fast as you could down to the locker rooms.

"identification ma'am." a guard said.

you scrambled through your bag with watery eyes.

"here!" you shoved your drivers license into the security guard's hands.

he looked at your id, handed it back, and let you into the golden knights dressing room space.

it was quiet and vacant. you had only been back here when everyone was yelling or everyone was crowded into this tiny space. now there was no one. it felt huge.

you scrambled around, searching for the room that william may be in. you eventually found the room and walked slowly and quietly in.

"your mri is scheduled for tomorrow william." you heard the athletic trainer say.

the trainer walked around the corner, "oh hi ma'am."

"sorry, that's my husband back there." you said.

"ah! go on back mrs. karlsson." he pointing around the corner in the direction where william was sitting.

you walked around the corner and william whipped his head around to see who it was. when he saw you, his eyes softened.

"hi willy." you said quietly as you walked over to him.

"hi fayre." he said sadly.

there was a comfortable sad silence in the room.

"he said it was bad. i didn't pass concussion protocol either." william spoke.

you nodded and kissed his forehead.

"let's go home, okay?" you asked.

he nodded.

the mri came out pretty negative. william had a grade III MCL tear and a severe concussion, which meant he would be out for about 3 months.

you could see the disgruntled expression on william's face when he was told that he couldn't play hockey for 3 months. he was put in a brace and had to use crutches.

"i'm sorry william. i know how much this hurts you." you said sympathetically.

"it's okay. at least i get to spend 3 months with you." he smiled sadly.

you smiled back at him.

the recovery process was long and hard with many ups and downs.

"IM USELESS FAYRE. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF. I CANT PLAY FOR MY TEAM." william cried out as he watched his teammates lose 7-3.

his eyes began to water as you held onto him, stroking his hair to calm him down. he cried into your chest.

you heard a loud boom which sounded like someone hitting the floor. you quickly realized that william had been upstairs by himself.

you ran away from the pasta you were cooking on the stove and scrambled upstairs to see a pained looking william on the floor.

you helped him up and to the nearest area for him to sit down.

"willy, you need to tell me when you are going try walking without the brace. you could've hurt yourself worse."

he nodded.

"i know you feel helpless, but if you damage your knee anymore that's just a longer recovery time that you and i don't want."

he nodded once more.

"come on willy, i'm making your favorite pasta. come eat with me karlsson."

"alright mrs. karlsson." he smiled and picked your hand up to kiss it, "thank you. for everything."

you smiled and blushed.

"GO WILLIAM!" you screamed as william pick-pocketed the ducks defenseman.

the endless days of struggling and pain had been worth it just like you knew it would be. william was back to his full potential and skill level. not to mention the fans were pleased he was back.

william's first game back; he stuck the puck in the back of the net and pointed towards you and mouthed,

"i love you!"
