Chapter 55

Spencer's POV

Before I could think, I was hit and shoved so quick to the floor I blacked out for a second. I didn't realize my eyes were closed until I felt a cool hand brush across my cheek . It sent shivers through my body instantly and I couldn't help but let the butterflies flutter in my stomach.

"Spencer, a-are you okay ?" I heard Em's sweet voice say.

My eyes shot open and then my head thumped from the contact it had with the floor just two seconds before . I sat up slowly with the help of Em who was indeed giving me her full attention, my butt was throbbing also and this position I was in wasn't helping . I gripped onto my night table and pulled myself up to my feet, she gripped at my waist instantly keeping me steady so that I wouldn't fall back down from the dizziness . I inhaled then exhaled quickly before standing up straight, she started to move her hands away but I grabbed them quickly and positioned her so that she was now in front of me.

"I'm okay ."

I shot her a smile as I searched her eyes, those ocean blue eyes of hers gave me comfort for some reason . I felt like holding her but doing so would probably make this a bit awkward, I felt as if I needed to protect her for some odd reason... maybe I'm just over-thinking this .

Her shoulders tensed up as she shied away from my stare. "Aren't we suppose to be getting ready for dinner ?" She asked.

I let go of her hands and put them inside of my pockets, "Yeah . Meet me downstairs, I'll save you a seat ." 

I blushed a bit, I have no idea why because I never blush not even when I had crushes on girls in school . She was different,  and somehow I really needed to figure this out .

Em's POV

I let go of the breath I was keeping in especially when he was staring at me like that ! Something about his gaze made me shy away from him . When I touched his cheek when he was on the floor it sent shivers through my body and the butterflies had only gotten worse. Now I have to go downstairs and eat dinner with his family for the first time . I walked out of his room and paced back in forth in the hallway, I managed to find the bathroom along the way, I cupped a hand full of cold water on my face and dried it with a towel.

"Get yourself together Emilie ." I said to myself.

I shook off the nervousness and made my way downstairs, as I approached closer to the last step I saw the table set with six plates but only five people were present. Mia saw me first and smiled so wide I couldn't help but giggle.

"Come sit by me !" She yelled.

I nodded and made my way towards the table and sat beside her booster seat. Spence sat next to me and smiled sweetly . The dirty blond with gray eyes sitting across from us must've been Sarah, she smiled at me and then became distracted into her cell phone.

"Hey mom, can I go over Hailey's tomorrow ? She's having a pool party ." Sarah asked.

"Sure hun, just be sure to have your bathing suit clean before tomorrow morning and let your brother know ahead of time so that he can drop you off ."

"So Spence are you still dating Rachel ?" Sarah asked sending him a death glare .

"So Sarah have you told mom about the hole you made in your wall shifting uncontrollably because of some guy named, hmm what was his name ? Oh yeah Chase? "

She dropped her fork which made a big clanking sound as it made contact with the glass plate. A evil smirk spread across her face. Her phone vibrated on the table and she picked it up without leaving it there another second.

"Spence, maybe you should shift . Oh yeah ! You can't . Stupid ."

She picked up a pea off her plate and shot it at him, he caught it in his mouth and Mia clapped her hands in applause , he seemed to not give in to the idea of not shifting.

' Hey, A?'

'What's up Em ? You need me to come out of these bushes and kick his a-' I cut her off.

'How come Sarah can shift and he can't ?'

'Have you heard about Chase yet ?'

'Yeah..'

'Chase is her mate, but he's 16 . He's immature, a douche, a jerk .. every word in the book. She shifted early because Chase just so happened to be the beta of the Davidson pack . Spence's dad and Chase's dad are like best friends, once they found out about Chase finding his mate they got a bit excited. Once they found out about it being Sarah, they kept that a secret between Chase, his dad, Spence's dad, Spencer and me and oh yeah now you . Her mom just thinks its some crush she has at her school, so until Sarah is old enough they can't see each other .'

'Okay. Thanks I'll mind link you later .'

I shut her out before she could tell me anything else and as soon as I was paying attention to what was going on I was the first to act as soon as Sarah jumped over the table towards Spencer . I grabbed her midair and put her beside me she was growling and her eyes were turning a dark green.

"What did you say to her Spencer ?"

Sarah began to shake and I had to get her out of this atmosphere before she shifted.

"I told her Chase was with some other girl right now."

I sent him a death glare and grabbed Sarah by the forearm before rushing her upstairs, I came across a room on my far right that had a hole in the wall and it was obviously hers . I took her in there shut the door and sat her on the bed. She was still shaking angrily and sending warning growls my way.

"Sarah, you need to calm your wolf down, you have to before you do something you regret . Take a deep breath don't let her get into control, imagine going to that pool party tomorrow . Wouldn't you much rather do that then sit here trying to control youself from shifting ?"

"Yes." She said between gritted teeth.

"Take control."

It took a few minutes to pass by before her eyes were back to that normal shade of gray. 

"Thank you Emilie."

She got up and hugged me tightly, I petted her hair and exhaled .

"You can't let Spence get to you like that."

She nodded her head in agreement and we made our way back downstairs to finish dinner.
