Down a dark street, a police car stops by by Luke with the window open. The two police officers inside look at Luke after he bends down to their level.

"We got a 10-54. I don't see a dead body, though." One says after looking around for anything.

"Nothing to see. It's a false alarm. Some dumbass kids pulling a prank." Luke states with a small sigh. The offenders smile slightly and nod.

"Alright, you have a good night, huh?" One says kindly before they drive off.

"You, too." Luke smiles and the police car drives away. The werewolf alpha walks over to the crime scene by walking through a glamour. Izzy sitting next to the body, examining the wound.

"Well, this is one nasty demon. Punched the hole right through his chest." She states whilst looking at the bloodied whole.

"With that kind of strength, I doubt it's done yet." Luke states just as Alec walks over.

"Nothing in the immediate area." He says to the pair standing by him. Luke nods as Izzy looks at her brother.

"We're taking the body back to the Institute. I'll run some tests to see what kind of demon we're dealing with." She says making the men look at her and nod.

"Clary and I will widen the perimeter." Alec looks around and sees Clary looking around. He sighs and rolls his eyes. "Hey, Fray! We got a demon to hunt. Come on."Clary rushes to Alec and they walk around the area, going into a busy street.

"Most important thing: don't slow me down. You slow me down, you get us both killed." Alec commands and Clary shrugs slightly.

"Sounds reasonable." Alec suddenly stops for a second to draw a rune on Clary's hand. She looks down confused but doesn't stop him. She knows that Alec knows what he's doing, and despite them not liking each other very much, he wouldn't hurt her because he knows it would hurt Alisha.

"What's this for?" She asks after a second.

"Let's you see the demon's heat signature." Alec states simply.

"Whoa." Clary says after looking around the city, testing the rune. She sees loads of bright lights and everything moving around her.

"First time can be sensory overload." Alec says after seeing her blink repeatedly. "The trick is to focus. Try to filter out everything unimportant, hone in on the heat signature."

"Yeah, I'm honing. I'm just not seeing anything." She says after a while of trying, but failing. The ginger shadowhunter frowns and looks at Alec for an answer.

"Patience." He says after seeing her frown. The boy lets a small smile grace his features but quickly covers it up, knowing he was being rude.

"Easy for you to say." Clary says and they continue to walk down the street. "For someone who hasn't been training her whole life, this stuff is impossible."
