Outside the institute, Alec is walking though a park, trying to get away from all the commotion in the institute so he can find Alisha and Jace. He is being followed by his mother, Maryse.

"Alec. Alec, slow down." She commands making her son stop and turn around. "Where are you going?"

"Magnus'. I couldn't just sit in there and not do anything. He'll help me find my brother and girlfriend." Mary's scoffs at Alec's words making him roll his eyes.

"Alisha is hardly your girlfriend. Jace is not your brother. He's not your blood." Maryse says.

"He's closer than blood. He's my parabatai. And Alisha, she's the woman I love so I won't sit here knowing they're in pain!" He shouts loudly. The mundanes around them continue to walk sconce the shadowhunters are glamoured.

"Alec, we looked like fools taking in Valentine's son, caring for him like our own." Maryse says after a slight pause.

"It was the right thing to do." Alec states looking at his mother.

"It was a mistake. It put our family in danger. You need to forget Jace and Alisha. They made their choice." Maryse says and Alec frowns.

"Do you even hear what you're saying? If you kill Jace, you kill a part of me. Alisha didn't have a choice, she was taken and if she died, I don't know what I'd do." Alec says.

"When you have a cancer, you cut it out before it destroys you. Son, life is full of hard choices." She says referring to Alec's parabatai bond with Jace.

"Don't kid yourself. You're not making a hard choice. You're saving your own ass. And unlike you, I don't push someone away just 'cause they're the hard choice." He spits and walks away before she can speak again. When he gets to Magnus's, he walks in without knocking and looks for the warlock. He finds him practicing magic on his balcony shirtless. "Magnus." Alec says but Magnus ignores him. "I'm not good at apologies, Alisha tells me that, but I'm... I'm sorry."

"Continue." Magnus says acknowledging the shadowhunter in front of him.

"I'm... really sorry." Alec says again.

"For?" Magnus says still practicing his magic.

"Look, can you just cut that out for a second?" Alec says annoyed. Magnus groans and throws a ball of magic towards Alec. It just misses him and it hits a lamp instead. The shadowhunter rolls his eyes and walks towards the warlock.

"I was wrong, I'm not the only person who wants them back. You and Alisha have known each other years before I even met her." Alec says.

"She's wearing off on you." Magnus says making Alec smile slightly.

"Look, with her and Jace missing, it's just like, the ground has shifted and I can't keep my balance." Magnus walks past him now with a sleeveless shirt on. Alec grabs his arm before he can leave. "Just..." Magnus looks at Alec surprised by what he's doing. "I didn't mean to take it out on you. I'm sorry."

"You're forgiven. Also, you're great at apologies." Magnus fixes Alec's jacket and he smiles.

"Thanks. I've been working on it with the help of Alisha." Alec smirks making Magnus laugh.
