Anirudh left Bondita in Dalhousie hostel with a heavy heart.
~In Anmol's house~
Anirudh arrives there. His smile is vanished, it seem like he left his heart somewhere.
Anmol: Anirudh, you came hn? What happened there? All good?
Anirudh wiped his tears.
Anirudh: All good, sarpanch ji. Bondita is in Dalhousie hostel now.
He smiled fakely.
Anmol: Don't worry about her. This is not a permanent seperation. After all, for education we shall lose anything. Now what's next?
Anirudh: I am leaving to bombay. My admission should be done there before day after tomorrow.
Anmol: Acha, by train or else shall i send jeep?
Anirudh: Ji, it's fine. I am going by train only. Afternoon 3 pm, express train is there. If i catch it then i will be in Bombay tomorrow afternoon.
Anmol shook his head. Anirudh goes to his room. Pinky stopped him on the way.
Pinky: Sakha!
Anirudh recalls of Bondita calling him as Sakha babu.
Pinky: You need not worry, I will go to school hereafter. I will meet Bondita there. I will take care of her. You don't cry.
Anirudh smiled. Pinky went to her room again.
Anirudh entered his room, locked the door.
At once he breaks down in tears. He know it is not a permanent seperation but his heart is not accepting this.
With tears he packs his luggages. He found Bondita's sindoor box inside his bag. He took it in his palm and smiled a bit.
Anirudh: Surely you will achieve one day. Sure!
He took his luggages and came out of Anmol's house.
Anmol: Take care, Anirudh. Call me in need. You know our telephone number na?
Anirudh: Hn, ji. Again, thank you so much for all your helps. We will remember it forever.
Anmol: Devu will drop you in railway station.
He smiled. Anirudh got on to jeep. The jeep started to move.
~In Hostel~
Bondita is looking out via window. Rest of the girls came to lunch. There are only 5 girls in the hostel including Bondita. 3 are British, 2 are Indian.
Their names are Sarah, Mary, Bella and Devi.
They all said Good afternoon in chorus.
Elizabeth: Good afternoon, girls. Your lunch is ready. Go in line and take your plates.
They all nodded and made a line.
Elizabeth: Oh yeah, we have a new student here.
Sarah: Where is she, miss?
Elizabeth: Wait, let me call her. Everyone must greet her with warm handshake. Understood?
They nodded.
Elizabeth: Bondita... Bondita...
Bondita came out of her room and looked at the girls. They all smiled at her.
Bella: Ah again a hindustani? Why these girls want to study?
Bondita's smile reduced.
Elizabeth: Bella, you should not speak like this. Ask sorry.
Bella smirked and walked to dining hall. Sarah and Mary followed her.
Devi went near Bondita and stretched her hand for handshake. Bondita greeted her with smile.
Devi: Durga ma sent you here. I am feeling relieved now. I have got a friend from my country now.
She smiled.
Bondita: Why they are avoiding me?
Devi: They all are angrezi girls. That's why they are avoiding us.
Bondita looks on.
Devi: Leave them, we two will remain friends here after. Tell me about yourself.
Bondita: I am Bondita Ro...
She stopped. Devi looks on.
Bondita: Mera naam Bondita Das! I am from Madras.
Devi: Acha, my name is Devi Kulkarni. I am from Bombay.
Bondita's smile widened.
Bondita: Bombay??!
Devi: Hn, you know someone from there?
Bondita thinks of Anirudh.
Devi: You have relatives there?
Bondita nods no.
Devi: Okay, we shall speak tonight. Now it's getting late for me. I am going to have lunch. Bye.
She goes from there.
Elizabeth: Bondita, you too go and have lunch.
Bondita: Yes miss. Devi, wait I am also coming with you.
Devi joint hands with her. They both went to dining hall.
Other side, Anirudh is in train. On the way to Bombay.
His mind is completely lost on Bondita.
He closed his eyes and recalls the happy moments, tears rolls down to his cheeks.
After one day of travelling, Anirudh landed in Bombay.
It is one of the busiest cities in India. He grins at the name board. Took a rikshaw from the stand and travels towards his dream college.
~In Dalhousie Hostel~
Bondita and Devi sat on a dining table. Lunch was two loaves of bread with jam, vegetable salad and a glass of lemon juice.
Others started to eat but Bondita looks at it with weird face.
Devi: What you are looking at? Eat quickly.
Bondita: Rice and Dhal will be given in next round hn?
Devi: What?! Rice and Dhal? Uh Oh, Bondita! This is the main lunch here.
Bondita: What? Bread and uncooked vegetables? How is it enough for us? I will get hungry soon then.
Devi: This is angrezi food. Here this is the rule. We have to adopt for it. Now eat it, soon.
Bondita took bread in her hand and looks at it. She recalls eating diffrent kind a food in house.
Devi: If you make it late then miss will scold us. Better eat it fast.
Bondita nodded and took a piece of bread to her mouth but stopped.
Bondita thinks: Where will be pati babu now? What will be Kaka sasurji and Batuk doing now?
She asks Devi about time.
Devi: It is 1.30 now.
Bondita thinks: Will they be eating? Who would have cooked in house? Batuk will be missing my kheer.
She thinks on without eating.
Devi: Something is bothering you. Are you home sick?
Bondita nods yes.
Devi: Don't worry, it will be fine soon.
Bondita eats the bread and jam half heartedly.
On other hand, Anirudh reached his dream college. Elphinston Law college.
He enters in with a passionate eyes. Everywhere students! Girls are also there but they are britishers.
He looks around with a smile.
"Anirudh Roy Chaudhary", a voice came from somewhere.
Anirudh searches for the voice. A man comes towards him and greeted him.
Anirudh: Manyavar?!
Manyavar: Thank god, you remember me. You too got selected uh?
Anirudh: Hn, the another one was you only?
Manyavar nodded.
Anirudh: Nice to meet you again.
Manyavar: Today is your first day? I arrived here yesterday itself. Infact, I belong to Bombay.
Anirudh: That's good. Where to enroll?
Manyavar: Come with me, I will show you.
He took him to principal room. Anirudh completes his formalities.
Principal: You are unmarried, right?
Anirudh's smile reduced, he nods yes.
Principal: Fine, Manyavar take him to hostel. Complete other formalities there. From tomorrow you shall attend the college.
Anirudh smiled and they two went to hostel.
