God works wonders now and then;

Behold a lawyer, an honest man. - Benjamin Franklin

The complete hush in the court room was quickly replaced by loud exclamations and shouts, both from the public and press gallery. The loudest was the old Sikh gentleman, who rapped his stick on the ground and was shouting expletives in Punjabi at Ravi Rajan. Nitin and SI Sarang who walked into the court just then, requested everyone to remain calm and proceeded to sit behind the public prosecutors table.

Judge Thapar rapped on his desk and ordered everyone to be silent.

Enormous guilt drowned Amrita again. Just like every other time, she had messed up things for everyone. She cast her eyes down, unable to meet the eyes of her loved ones.

Khurana walked to Amrita in the witness box and muttered "Don't worry. Look at your family"

She looked shaken and close to tears, but nodded her head and slowly looked up. Brijesh and Dr Sharma along with Shyam and Sonali were smiling, and looking kindly at her and gesturing encouragement signs. She thanked them with her eyes.

Once the courtroom went quiet, Khurana walked towards the middle and slowly started clapping at Ravi Rajan.

Then he bowed quickly to Judge Thapar and apologised.

"Your honour, sorry for not able to control my reaction to such an excellent performance by my esteemed colleague."

For a moment I was confused which court or session I was attending. Was it the Case of Ms Vidya Mehta's murder or Mr Pratap Chaudhary's ? Because, as you can understand and I am the Public prosecutor even for MR Prathap Chaudhary's case, and coincidentally you are the allocated judge too. Because my esteemed colleague certainly seems to have forgotten what and whose case he is defending.

Is Mr Rajan trying to defend the case of Mr Pratap Chaudhary and hence accusing Ms Amrita Mehta of his murder, or is he here to defend his supposed client Mr Kamal Chaudhary? Because your honour, that is my job and frankly as a public prosecutor, I don't earn much, and if my cases are taken off me by a private attorney like this, where would I end up? So I beg you Mr Rajan, please don't do this to a poor man like me."

The airiness with which this mock commentary was delivered by Khurana was well received by everyone in the court, and there were few chuckles.

Khurana paused and rubbed his eyes before resuming. His face looked anything but kind and indulging now.

"Your honour we are here to prove or disprove who killed Ms Vidya Mehta on the 13th of January, and the cock and bull story that Mr Pramod Gupta and Mr Ravi Rajan have come up with beggars' belief.

They want us to believe that on the very day that Ms Vidya Mehta unearthed the biggest scandal of this so called prestigious hospital, an assassin just happened to come into the hospital premises, kill my client, and walk away without anyone noticing it. Great!!

We have a video confession of the very Dean of the University, who witnessed the actual murder, who had confessed that Pratap Chaudhary and Kamal Chaudhary together plotted and killed Vidya Mehta, and then carried her body to the hostel room, hanged her up to make it look like suicide. We have CCTV footage of them doing these; but NO!!! We should not take it as evidence because it was supposed to be given under duress, supposed to have obtained illegally etc.,

I mean, where does this buffoonery end? I can't even laugh at these kind of sick jokes anymore.

Instead of believing the simple truth staring at our faces, and following logic and common sense, they want to distract us with these kinds of shock and awe theories.
