"Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.

They are in each other all along." Rumi

Ajay was still in a furious mood when he reached his apartment. He wasn't sure whether he was mad at himself for his inability to deal with Amrita, or Amrita's stubbornness to see the bigger picture.

He decided to go to the gym and spend some time there, as he knew it would help him refocus, and help him release his frustrations. After spending few hours at Gym, he called Sonali, and was happy to know that the last step of their plan was carried successfully by her.

It was quite late when he returned home. But after a quick shower, he went out again as he had an appointment.

Ajay now made it a habit to ensure he was not followed by anyone. He took various measures, each different from the previous, to make sure his whereabouts were unknown.

At a predestined location, he met the DIG of police. But the DIG wasn't alone. Rakesh Khurana, their state's most reputed criminal lawyer and public prosecutor was there along with him. After the initial greetings, Ajay quickly explained all the events in the past week. He showed them the post mortem reports, and the video recording of the CCTV footage, which he had copied on his mobile phone.

He also assured them that he will be able to procure further evidence using the prototype microchip device they obtained at Nasscom.

Lawyer Khurana was a man of few words. But his personality and voice were such that when he spoke, everyone's attention was automatically drawn to him.

"The current evidence we have is enough for us to lodge a strong case against them, but since there are no witnesses to the exact crime, their defence lawyers might argue that most of the evidence is purely circumstantial, and appeal against it. That's why it is critical that you keep gathering as much as evidence as possible in future, so we can make our case a watertight one. I will file the case tomorrow."

Ajay was happy and relieved to hear this.

"One more thing Ajay, since I am involved in this case, you will get a lot of publicity and media coverage for this case, which is quite a good thing to happen for you, and the parties involved.

The more media coverage for this, the better. Media will run their own trials, and generate sympathy for Vidya. There's a lot of public anger against the Chaudhary brothers, and the press want to cash in on that. Its common knowledge that I am not afraid of the Chaudhary brothers' clout, and they know that too. But in frustration, they might want to target you again to silence you. So please be extremely careful." He cautioned Ajay in a firm voice.

Ajay nodded his head in agreement. "Yes Sir, I will be careful. Please don't worry about me."

The DIG of police finally added in his measured voice.

"Ajay, you know that I trust your judgement, and I fully support your fight for justice in this case. At the moment my hands are tied up, so I can't support you publicly, but once the case is in court and reaches certain stage, I can assure you that I will do whatever necessary to help you. I will be able to provide any protection, support your need, using my full capacity and rank in the department. Is that understood?"

"Yes Sir and Thank you very much."

Ajay felt really happy at the end of their brief meeting. He was confident that he would now be able to start his fight against the Chaudhary brothers, their crony SP Kamal and Nalanda Hospital.

He called Shyam to inform him about his meeting, and explained what his plans were for the next few days. He refrained himself to enquire about Amrita but Shyam knew him too well. He was quick to assure Ajay that Amrita was feeling much better now, after coming back from Sonali's place. He also promised Ajay that he will keep an eye on Amrita, to ensure she won't go against Ajay's wishes, and fully cooperate with him on this.
