Reina: Oh look, I found my Frozen fanfic. And now I sound like Viridi. -_-

Chapter 1: Prologue

Far in the north, tucked away in a fjord, lays the Kingdom of Arendelle. It's a quaint kingdom, ruled by their benevolent King Agdar and his Queen Idun. The king and queen had everything they could want- a lovely castle, a wonderful staff, and two beautiful daughters, Elsa and Anna. The entire kingdom loved the royal family, and whenever the royal family walked throughout the kingdom, they were meet with cheers and celebration.

The kingdom was preparing for the annual summer solstice celebration. Everyone was scurrying about, making sure that everything was in order for the celebration. King Agdar was in the balcony with Anna, overseeing the palace preparations. Queen Idun was inside the castle, picking out dresses for her daughters. Elsa was watching her mother pick dresses out and hold them out in front of her.

"I like that dress," Elsa told her mother. The dress was a light blue, with see-through arms and fabric draped behind it. It sparkled in the light as the queen held it in front of her.

"This was the dress I wore when I became Queen. And someday Elsa, this will be yours when you become Queen," Queen Idun told her young daughter with a smile. Elsa continued to marvel at the dress. The queen smiled and continued to look at dresses with her older daughter.

King Agdar entered the room, with seven year old Anna on his shoulders. Anna was giggling, and her father laughed with her.

"How's the preparations going?" The King asked as he placed Anna on the floor.

"We're almost done," the Queen replied as Anna ran up to hug her mom.

Elsa grabbed her sister's hand, and led her to the dresses. The girls ran their fingers in the soft, silky fabrics while their parents smiled at them.

Anna and Elsa ran to the closet, presumably to play hide and seek in the huge closet, when the door suddenly opened. The two girls stopped and peaked their heads out slightly.

Their Uncle, Acke, walked towards the King and Queen. His dark hair was slicked back, "Good evening."

"What are you doing here?" Their father told his brother in a low voice. "I thought that you were away on business."

"I came home early. Is there something wrong with that?"

"You should have alerted us earlier," the Queen replied.

Acke grinned. "If that's the case, then I'm glad that I didn't."

Acke pulled a knife out of his suit and plunged it in his brother's chest. Agbard gasped and fell down. Acke laughed manically while Iduna grabbed her daughters and fled the room.

"What happened to Daddy?" Elsa asked in horror as their mother ran with them.

"He-He's dead." The queen sobbed.

Anna began to cry. Elsa blinked tears away, but focused on running.

The three of them made it out of the castle. Two of the guards had joined the Queen, and they were placing the two girls in a boat.

"Are you coming with us Mommy?" Elsa asked as the guards entered the boat.

"I can't leave my kingdom, but my daughters can. I love you, Anna and Elsa."

"Why not, your highness?" The older guard gaped.

"My children are more important. Get them out, now!"

The guards nodded and cut the ropes. They rowed away as Acke came out and stabbed Iduna in the back.

"MOMMY!" Anna and Elsa sobbed.

Acke noticed his nieces leaving on the boat. He took a knife and throw it at them. It missed the boat, and he began to curse as the currents picked up speed, allowing the princesses to escape, but not before Elsa shot an icicle out of her hand and cut their uncle's face.

----------

Two weeks later, Anna and Elsa were running again.

"Where are we going?" Anna asked, fear enveloping her as she ran and stumbled.

"Somewhere safe!" Her sister replied.

The last two weeks reeled through Elsa's mind. Her parents had been murdered by her uncle. The boat they were on sunk right after they escaped. And the two guards that were sent to protect them had been killed by Acke's followers one hour ago. Elsa wanted to sit down and cry, but the adrenaline pumped through her veins, forcing her to run with her sister.

Voices could be heard behind them. Elsa led her sister through twists and turns as Acke's soldiers pursued them. The two princesses crossed a rickety bridge between two cliffs that allowed them to pass. Elsa shot ice out of her hand, causing it to freeze.  As soon as one of the soldiers stepped on the bridge, it collapsed and he fell to his death. The princesses kept running until Anna collapsed an hour later in a field nearby a mansion.

"I can't move forward," Anna sobbed. "My legs hurt."

Elsa also collapsed from exhaustion. "Why?" She whispered. "Why did this happen? Why did we lose everything?"

Anna kept crying. Elsa scooted closer to her and hugged her sister. "Don't worry, Anna," she whispered. "Everything will get better soon. I promise."

Elsa looked up at the sky. The sun had set, with the stars twinkling above. Normally, Elsa loved gazing at the stars with Anna, but today, it seemed that they were mocking her. She scowled.

"I will do everything in my power to make everything right. I will avenge my parents, one way or another!" Elsa yelled at the stars.
