George POV.

Clay directed me to one of the offices and I shot him a glare when I read the sign beside the door.

Vivian McAuley
Cheer coach.

This asshole was signing me up to be a fucking cheerleader!!!

He knocked on the door before standing back, and after a moment a woman in her late 30's or 40's opened the door.
"Good morning, can I help you two?" She asked with a warm smile that put me slightly at ease.
"Good morning Coach McAuley." The blond beside me replied, his hand still firm on my shoulder, "I'm Clay Smith and this is George Davidson, and I think I have a new... male cheerleader."

The coach's eyes followed Clay's and they both looked towards me, then after a moment she beckoned us both into her office. McAuley motioned for us to sit at some chairs opposite her and we did what she wanted, even though every inch of me was telling me to run and get out of whatever Clay was forcing me into.

Her eyes looked over my body and I felt the need to try and move away from her gaze, "You look like you'd make a good cheerleader, small and light and you seem like you could be agile and flexible." Coach Vivian said, we were unsure if she was talking to us or herself. "Our cheerleaders could use another member for some new routines we're working on, plus a male would be  a first for our school, you'd be one of a kind."
I raised a questioning eyebrow and made eye contact with Clay as the woman opposite us was still in thought, does he really think this would be a good idea?

Vivian McAuley stopped her rambling and looked over to me, "so, George was it? Are you interested in joining our cheer squad?"
I was about to answer with a firm no but Clay answered before I could speak, "he would love to join."
Clay glanced over to me with a sly smirk, as I sent him a glare back. He knew I didn't want to do this, although I knew he was going to do something like this. Clay does know what could happen if he pissed me off too much. I could have him fired, my father could have him fired, and yet he still wants to do this as payback.

"Good." She reached across the desk and shook both of our hands, "then I'll see you tomorrow George, our first practice is in the gym after school on Wednesday at the same time as football practice. Please be sure to have your uniform by then, here is where you can buy the uniform you need."
Coach McAuley scribbled down a shop name and address before slid it across the desk for me, I refused to grab it so Clay pocketed the scrap of paper instead. "He will be there." The blond assured her.

Then he stood and left the Cheerleading coach's office, I followed closely behind and gave him a harsh look as we wandered back through the halls. "You do realise you could get fired for this right?" I asked him, not trying to hide the fact that I was completely pissed at him.
"No I won't." Clay had a singsong tone, he almost walked with a spring in his step and that annoyed me.
"Uh- yes you will. You may be my current best friend, Clay, but I will get my father to fire you."

"Awww thanks for calling me your best friend." The blond said in a childish tone as we stepped onto the outside courts. "But I still won't get fired Georgie."
"And why the fuck not?"
"Because your father agreed to let me do this, I talked to him this morning."

My mouth fell into an 'o' shape and my eyes widened in disbelief. Clay just laughed at my expression before running off ahead, into the crowd of students, disappearing from my line of sight. I scoffed in annoyance, Dad. That's who Clay definitely got the cheerleader idea off, I mean they were talking about football and cheerleaders last Wednesday, and now I was being forced to do this.

I let out a loud, over exaggerated huff before turning around and heading towards the library. Mrs Murdo wasn't at the desk near the front door, so she must have been off restocking the shelves with books since the library was almost empty today. I went over to my usual spot in the corner and sat in my seat, just grabbing a book from nearby and deciding to read it.

Less than a minute had passed since I sat down and I got a text from Clay.

Clay POV.

I disappeared into the crowd, still laughing slightly before turning and looking for the brunette, however he wasn't nearby. Thinking maybe he was somewhere behind me I retraced my steps and got back to the door he and I had come out of a minute or so prior, but he wasn't there.

My eyes scanned the crowd, still no sign of George. I decided to text him, not panicking straight away as I could see Zak, Nick and Wilbur (who still had his wrist covered in bandages) all hanging around leaning against a brick wall on the opposite side of the courts. They were all seemingly smoking cigarettes but I couldn't exactly tell from over here.

I pulled my phone from my pocket and typed out a message before hitting send.

George POV.

Where R U? Your best friend is getting worried 🥺

I rolled my eyes in annoyance, Clay was never going to end up forgetting that I called him my best friend. After a minute of waiting for the sole reason to annoy the blond I typed a plain message in response.

Library

Boom, see plain. Almost instantly I got a reply from Clay.

Don't move I'm on my way.

Well that just tempted me to move, but still I didn't. After a minute the doors to the library opened and I could see the blond stumble inside from the corner of my eye. He looked around for a couple of seconds before noticing me and coming over. "Good to see you again bestie." He said teasingly as he sat beside me.

I grumbled something untranslatable in response as I shuffled further away from him.
"Hey come on bestie what's that for?" He smiled as he saw how calling me his best friend irritated me even though I wasn't sure why.

Clay gave me one last look before pulling the piece of paper with that address for the shop that Coach McAuley told us about that sells cheerleader uniforms and read the address to himself a few times over for no reason.

"So Georgie, I guess we need to go shopping after school today."
