You stopped walking when you started hearing the way they were talking about Katherine. You clenched your fists as everything they mentioned was taken out of context and simply just made her look like a bad person. Katherine, wasn't. She was the sweetest person you had ever met and it wasn't fair for them to talk to her like that when she was on her death bed.
"You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Katherine, did the things she did for reasons. You might not be able to understand why she did them but it was took us safe."
"No, she didn't. She's selfish. All she ever did was cause us trouble. She killed all those people and you're still defending her? You're an idiot."
"Get out!"
"But this is our estate."
"I don't give a shit. Get out. Before I force you out."
They all hold up their hands and quickly shuffle out of the house to leave you alone with Katherine.
You wait until the door is closed to finally make your way to Katherine. You hated not being able to do anything to save her. All you could really do was wait and hope that she would heal on her own. She was sleeping so you figured it couldn't hurt to talk to her.
"I came in to find everyone talking bad about you. Saying that you deserve what was coming to you for all those things you had done. I told them that they were being ridiculous. Everything that you did was for a reason, they just couldn't comprehend why you did things." You paused to take a seat besides her. "I hate how they label you as the bad guy. They don't know what you've been through." You let out a bitter sob as you tried to stop yourself from crying. "God, I love you so much, Katherine. I hate not being able to do anything. All those times I've left you alone was because I was trying to find spells or potions to help you heal but I can't find anything. All I'm doing is wasting time. Time that I could be spending with you."
Katherine knew that she couldn't' continue to pretend to be asleep. She turned around to face you, completely surprising you.
"Please tell me that you just woke up."
You practically begged. Katherine gives you a small smile and shakes her head. She patted the spot besides her, beckoning you to sit besides you
"I heard everything, (y/n)."
You sigh and stand up to sit besides you. Wiping away the tears that had managed to spill.
"Please pretend that you didn't hear any of that."
"I can't, (y/n). You just confessed to me that you loved me. I can't forget that."
"I meant it as a friend way."
Katherine laughs and cups you cheek, caressing with her thumb while she let her eyes roam your face.
"So say I wanted to kiss you, you wouldn't kiss me back?"
"I..."
Katherine cuts you off, completely surprising you with the kiss.
"Why are you crying, (y/n)? Am I a terrible kisser?"
You hadn't even realized that you were crying until she had mentioned it to you. Katherine wiped away your tears and let her forehead rest against yours.
"I don't want to waste what little time I have left being upset. I hate seeing you cry, (y/n)."
"I don't want to lose you, Katherine."
"I've made peace with it, (y/n). You'll find someone better than me. Someone that doesn't hurt the ones she loves."
"I don't care. I want you, Katherine."
Katherine smiles and leans in to kiss you, tasting the salt of your tears.
"I love you, (y/n)"
Unknown to the two of you, your tears had managed to cure Katherine's illness.

Katherine opened her arms as you ran to her, practically tackling her in to a hug.
"You're feeling much better? Why are you out of bed? What's going on?"
"I can't explain but I feel better than ever."
You cup her cheeks and pull her in for a deep kiss.
"You're okay? You're really okay?"
"Yes, darling. I'm okay."
