The Two Alphas (Editing)

Part 59

Cayden sat down on the couch which was placed at a side corner of Valerie's office followed by Valerie who sat beside him. They faced each other and smiled.

Valerie took a deep breath and started speaking. "I don't know whether you are aware or not but Randall has got some personal agenda with me and.."

"I know." Cayden replied stopping Valerie mid sentence. "Scarlett is doing a pretty good job of spying. She has informed me few moments ago. She is risking her life to repent for her mistakes."

Valerie nodded and Cayden continued. "Randall is targeting your mother and younger sister."

"I know, that is why I have sent them away at a safe place."

"What! Don't you think they would have been safer here with you? I am also calling my family back from the vacations." Cayden said.

"Randall does not have a personal motive to destroy your family but he has one for mine. I have almost made them disappear."

"But he has got one powerful witch who knows deadly dark magic. She can easily locate them."

"Don't you think I am not aware of that? You sometimes really judge my capabilities as an alpha. I have a witch at disposal and vampires who are ready to give their life for me."

Cayden scoffed. "Yeah how can I forget about those 'vampires'." He replied sarcastically emphasizing on vampires.

"Cayden. I .." she hesitated because she was tired of explaining herself and in the same moment Cayden cursed himself for speaking without thinking, again. Before she could say anything Cayden spoke. "I am sorry Valerie. I should not have said that. Being an alpha of this pack, you know what is best for your family and for your pack. I respect that. I should not have questioned your decisions."

Valerie nodded, at least it was a start. "Charles is moving in the pack." She said completely changing the topic.

"I heard." Cayden replied. "Kevin told me when I was coming to meet you. I am there for you at every step of the way.  And I really mean it this time. So what is the strategy that you are planning for countering the problem of Randall and that witch?"

"I have called the official meeting tomorrow morning at nine. You and your officials are most welcome to join. We would like to hear about your point of view as well."

"I will be there alpha." Cayden replied.

It was for the first time that Cayden has referred to her by her  title in a respectful way and not in any derogatory form. She smiled and replied. "We will wait for you alpha Cayden."

For the first time they both acted in a civil manner and respected each other's title.

He nodded and stood up. "I will see you tomorrow morning." He said and kissed her on her forehead and left.

Valerie and her officials were discussing the plan and the ways to deal with Randall. They were planning the role of the Mystic Moon pack and the rest of the packs in the war. It was half past two when she called it a night. Everyone left but Dmitri stayed.

"I am really proud of you Valerie and I am sure your father would be too."

He walked and stood in front of her. " You have excelled as an alpha. You think everything precisely and elaborately."

Valerie was looking towards him confused as to why he was praising her.

"I have seen your growth and you are the strongest alpha I know. Not only in terms of physical strength but also emotionally and mentally. Cayden misbehaved with you. Acted childishly and openly challenged you in front of your pack and I helped him mark you with deception but you did not reject him or broke your friendship with me. Sure you were angry for quite a time but you did not deny me. He kind of dragged you from here to there mentally and emotionally but you kept your cool. His best friend betrayed you and he still took her side, yet you kept your calm and your emotions at bay. After all this, you did not just get up and rejected him. No, you gave him chances to prove himself worthy. You had Alexei in front of you, the perfect choice and yet you did not pay any attention to him. I know deep down you are attracted to him and many a times you wanted to reject Cayden and mate with Alexei but you kept control on your emotions."
