The stars were always so pretty; Ben was fascinated by them. They were quiet and mysterious. Not loud.

The people in Ben's school were very loud. Too loud.

Ben liked stargazing. He could climb up onto his roof easily (after falling off several times, of course, in the beginning.) The view was great and no one disturbed him.

Wham! A backpack slammed into Ben's side. That would bruise.
Long nights.
Ben climbed out onto the roof, trying to escape the loud yelling beneath him. He hated when they yelled.
Long days.
Wham! "Hey kid, are you okay? Kid? Crap, he's not waking up..."
Nights.
Days.
"Oh thank god! Ben, you're awake!"

Thanks to his concussion, Ben couldn't escape his parents' yelling.

Ben couldn't do much of anything in class beyond listening.

Ben climbed onto the roof anyways, despite not being allowed to. This time, the yelling ended in the sound of doors slamming and a car driving away.

"Hey... I'm really sorry for giving you a concussion. Hey... can you talk? Hello? Wait, lemme read this... oh, you can't speak?"
Longer nights.
His dad hadn't come back last night.
Long days.
"Hey Ben, what's up? That's good. I'm good too, thanks for asking. Oh yeah, I never did tell you my name! I'm Steve."
Longer nights.
His mom looked sad.
Long days.
"Hey, what's wrong? You look sad..."

He didn't know where his mom or dad were.
Short days.
"You can stay at my house, no worries... Hey hey, it's all right, hug it all out, it's okay...."

"Sleep well, Ben."
Short days.
"I'm sorry Mr. Addington, your father was found dead several towns over along with your mom."
Short nights.
"Oh my god."
Long days.
"He's the kid who's parents died."
"Why doesn't he speak? He's so weird."
Short nights.
"I'll miss you... only a few years, right? Then you can come back."
