Chapter 98: The Truth Comes Out

I quietly get up from bed and walk downstairs to the piano. I put the top now so I wouldn't wake her up. Another thing I kept thinking about were Kimberly's eyes and how they literally hypnotized me. Thinking about them gave me an idea. I quickly look for a pad and notebook since I left my phone upstairs, and jotted down lyrics and started singing:

"That's beautiful." I hear Kimberly say. I turn around and see her wearing one of my t-shirts. "Thank you." I reply smirking at her and she blushes. I can never get enough of that. "May I sit?" She asked sweetly and I move over as she sits on the bench with me. "Is that going to be on the new OneRepublic album?" I shook my head. "No, I don't think it should be for the band. It should be for another artist." I said squeezing her hand.

"Did I wake you?" I asked with guilt. She shakes her head. "No. I just got hungry honey." She answered kissing my forehead. I think now's my chance to ask her. "Honey, can I talk to you?" I asked kindly. "I guess have to explain to you what I meant the other day don't I?" She answered as we sat down on the couch. How did she... Oh wait that's right I say to myself.

She took a deep breath. "As you know, Matias and I were dating."

I nod. "Yeah and?"

She takes a deep breath. "A few years ago, when we were still dating, I found out , that he cheated on me for the third time. I decided it was the last straw for me." Suddenly, her eyes start getting watery. Sh sighs. "I tried to leave him.... I tried to fight back , but he was too strong."

"Kimberly, what's going on?" I say In concern. What did that son of a bitch do to her? I say to myself. "He raped me." She said crying and I hold her in my arms. I felt rage take over me. "That son of a bitch raped you?!?!?!" I exclaim. "Why haven't you told me?" I said. "She looked at me like a scared little girl." I usually don't intimidate her. Then something clicks. This is the first time I see her vulnerable side.

That explains the night at the party. When she thought that I called her easy she automatically thought to that day. Fuck! I feel so stupid. I hug her tighter. "I thought I finally got away from him. I thought I could rebuild my life by myself or with the right guy, and I found... You." She said holding my hand for a brief moment smiling at me. She looks down to the floor.

"Something else happened. Didn't it?" I asked. She looks up at me with tears in her eyes. "He threatened to kill you if I didn't end things with you." She said with tears in her eyes. I pull her closer to me and kiss her hair. "It's alright sweetie. At least I killed the bastard first before he got to me." I say trying to lighten the mood.
