December 7th, 1941
It had been two days since Nebraska had collapsed at the State Meeting. Much to her dismay the doctors and America said she had to rest for a couple days.

Nebraska had pretty much nothing but Kansas to entertain her and keep her from wanting to go places. It's not like she went very many places anyway. Kansas had fiery red hair, pale blue eyes, somewhat of a tan, a sky blue t-shirt, and some knee length khakis.
It was early in the afternoon, around 1:00 where they were. Nebraska was trying to figure out how she could convince Kansas to let her walk around.

"God this is boring. Really anything would be better than this." She groaned, "Hm...maybe I'll see if I-" Nebraska was interrupted by a shout from the hallway, "Okay that's it I'm getting up." It took a bit of convincing to get her muscles to sit up, swing her legs over the side of the bed, and actually walk. Three states were rushing around glancing nervously at the sky. Even the normally chill Oklahoma was freaking out, "What happened?" Kansas ran over with a distraught look on her face.

"It's Hawaii! Pearl Harbor's been attacked!" Anger flashed across Nebraska's face before she asked.

"Who?"

"Japan."

She felt her anger melt away like ice in a sauna. The anger was replaced by shock.

"No. No he wouldn't. I-I don't believe you!" She pushed Kansas away.

"Nat-"

"Oui! Only America is allowed to speak my real name!" Nebraska snapped.

"I know you like Japan but this is war. People change." Texas tried to put his hand on Nebraska's shoulder but she slapped his hand away.

"Shut up!" Then she stormed off. When she got back to her room she slumped down on the wall and buried her face in her hands, "Why? What drove you to do this? Why?" Suddenly the phone began to ring downstairs. Nebraska jumped up and ran to get it before anyone else could. She had a habit of doing that, "Hello?"

"Is Nebraska there?" Japan. She felt a flutter in her chest. When Texas said that she liked Japan it really wasn't a 'oh your my friend' like it was a 'I really really like you' kinda like.

"Speaking."

"Oh. Nebraska...I didn't want to do this."

"I know. I don't blame you, but I wouldn't let Kansas near you. You know the saying 'don't piss off the redhead' right?" Nebraska glanced at Kansas, who was glaring at her.

"I've heard it before." Japan answered flatly.

"Yeah..and Kansas is literally glaring at me like she wants to murder me. I'd start running." She glared back at Kansas with a glare of equal intensity.

"I'm not much for running.."

"Me either. I'll talk to you later. If Kansas doesn't kill us first." Nebraska looked down at the phone.

"Hopefully that will not happen. Sayonara."

"Sayonara." Nebraska put the phone down and prepared herself for Kansas.

"Why the hell are you even talking to him!?" She yelled.

"He didn't want to! It's not like he can completely ignore his boss! Plus Hitler probably had a hand in this too!" Nebraska shot back.

"Oh yeah sure! What else did you talk about? Joining the Axis!?" Texas was fuming.

"NO! And what do you know about Japan? Oh right, nothing! You think every outside source is trying to destroy America! Sure there are but Japan is NOT one of them!" Nebraska hit him in the chest, "If you won't except the fact that I like him then I'll leave! I'll go and stay with America. At least he's more understanding that you!" Then she whirled around and stalked out of the room. She grabbed only a few things then left the house, "If America doesn't understand then I guess I will join them." She smirked as she climbed onto her motorcycle.

About two hours later Nebraska arrived at America's place. She rang the doorbell and turned to face the horizon. A memory of the first time
she'd actually met Japan came to her.

Nebraska was in one of the few state meetings that they had. Someone was watching the meeting, and actually seemed to notice her. He had short brown and black hair, light brown eyes, and pale skin. During the meeting she couldn't help but sneak looks at him. And he her. After the meeting he came up to her, seeming nervous.

"I couldn't help but notice, that the other's don't notice you." He stated simply.

"Yeah, I've learned to cope with it. Uh....do you mind if I ask your name?" She smiled a bit as she thought about how cute this guy was.

"Oh! Not at all. My name is Japan." Japan bowed and Nebraska blushed, "What is your name?"

"I'm Nebraska. It's nice to meet you." She pushed her glasses up and adjusted her drawing book in her arms.

"It is nice to meet you too. You look a lot like America." Japan smiled, Nebraska felt a flutter in her chest.

"I get that a lot."

"Natalie?" America's voice brought her out of her memory.

"Can you talk?" She looked him straight in the eye, something she did only when she was really serious about something.

"Uh, yeah. Is it okay if England and China are around?" He asked nervously.

"It's not ideal...but I guess it'll be okay." Nebraska took a deep breath and came inside. England and China were just inside and seemed surprised that it was her. She turned to America with a dead serious look on her face.

"Nat, what's wrong?"

"Don't go to war against Japan." Nebraska pleaded.

"Why shouldn't he?" England asked accusingly. She whirled around to face him.

"Stay out of this. This doesn't concern you." She glared daggers at England and he took a step back.

"He has a point." America looked at her with a guilty look on his face, "Our government will freak if I don't. This is out of our hands." Nebraska gave him a hurt look then ran out, "Natalie, wait!"

"NO! If your going to war with him, then your going to war with me!" She turned shouted as she started the motorcycle. Then with one last look back at America, England, and China's shocked faces, she drove off.
