NICK P.O.V.: Things didn't change with Demi after my brother left, she and I just didn't talk like we used to. We only shared two moments on stage and that was enough, because I think it affected us both to do so. It was as if we were suffocating. With Cherry things were great, I had begun to see her as someone I was really dating and had discovered many things about her that I liked. She was cute, kind, smart and many other good things...although she didn't smile as much as...nevermind.

Arriving at the Edmonton arena to give the show, I didn't have the best of surprises. Luke was waiting for Demi in the backstage with a giant smile. When she saw him, she ran to hug him and they kissed in front of me. This time it did seem like it was a serious relationship.

Cherry: they look happy together (Cherry told me and I just nodded)

Nick: we'll see how long it lasts (I whispered and Cherry raised her eyebrows)

Cherry: what? Why do you say that?

Nick: (I shrugged) I don't know, that's what I think

Cherry: Demi is your best friend, you should be happy for her and Luke...I don't understand what's your problem with them, Nick

Well, I would like to be in Luke's place.

Really Nick? I think you just admitted something.

Shut up, I don't want anything and I didn't admit anything. Oh great, now there are three parts inside my mind. I rolled my eyes and Cherry sighed.

Cherry: You don't have to make those faces when I talk to you. If you don't want to hear me, just tell me...I'm sure you wouldn't do the same to Demi

Nick: what? I didn't know you were talking to me Cher

Cherry: oh perfect, you don't even know I exist (she said and left with the other background singer before I could even apologize)

I looked in front of me and saw Luke looking at me. There was no one else but the two of us there.

Luke: hello brother, everything okay? (He said shaking my hand and I smiled at him falsely)

Nick: yes, all great, and you?

Luke: excellent...you know, supporting my Demi (I couldn't help but raise my eyebrows but I smiled to hide my anger and displeasure)

Nick: course, I must go to get ready, see you

Luke: sure, go (leaving him behind on the hallway, I rolled my eyes)

My Demi, he said. Your Demi? Who the hell does he think he is? Demi is nobody's, and if it must be someone's, then she is mine.

Dave: Hey brother, is something wrong? (He asked taking me back to reality)

Nick: what? No, nothing happens to me

Dave: sure?

Nick: yes? Why do you say that?

Dave: you've been looking at your dressing room door for about 5 minutes

Nick: but what nonsense things do you say? That's not true (I said as if he was the craziest man alive)

Dave: yes, it is (he said with a frown)

Nick: yes of course Dave, as if those things happened

Dave: Nick-

Nick: see you later (I said before entering the dressing room and closing the door with a lock)

Nick: now everyone thinks I'm crazy, great (I said and sighed)

John: well, now that I see you speaking alone, I just confirmed it (I jumped when I heard that voice and looked towards the sofa)

Nick: John, that wasn't polite at all. You should have told me that you'd come to my dressing room, I always fix myself alone

John: well yes, that's why I came today...you're always alone and maybe you want someone to talk to, since Demi has a glam team and you don't

Nick: no, I think I don't need anyone, the princess needs people to talk to sometimes (I said and instantly felt bad for the tone with which I said those words)

John: hey, ever since I've known you, I've never heard you talk like that about Demi...did you guys fight?

Nick: what do you think? (I said as I started to change my clothes)

John: I haven't seen you together lately but I didn't think that was a bad thing

Nick: I consider it bad, we were like one before...before the tour (I said after biting my tongue)

John: why did you fight?

Nick: I don't know, I guess we're going in different directions

John: really? You've always been in the same direction, synchronized even

Nick: anyway, that's all I wanted to talk to someone about, you can go now

John: Nick, if you allow me to be honest with you...I think you have changed a lot since the tour started, you don't laugh anymore, you don't joke with anyone, you don't spend time with the team, all you do is spend time with Cherry or locked up alone and-

Nick: and it's my life so you should respect it. Maybe I got tired of being the cute and sweet boy I've been since I became famous

John: it wasn't just an image Nick, you were a good boy...I'm surprised that you are no longer

Nick: maybe if you stopped meddling in my life, I would be happier (I said angrily and he shrugged after standing up from the sofa)

John: I guess I understand why Demi has grew apart from you, you are not the Nick we all loved (he said and left the dressing room)

Nick: Bullshit! (I screamed, throwing my shirt to the wall hard)

No one had the right to say that Demi no longer loved me because I changed. I was sure that she still loved me. There was no way he didn't...we were always best friends.

Someone knocked on the door a few minutes later and I left the dressing room ready to go sing, even though I didn't feel like doing it.

The show was like every night, although my energy was maybe less than usual. When it was time to sing "Close" with Demi, the song didn't come out very impressive, there were even times when we didn't sound in complete harmony, which was very strange because the two of us connected a lot through music.

When I finished, when I saw her smile at the audience, I cursed myself for not being the best friend I promised I would be to her. I missed her very much, more than anyone even if I saw her every day...and that was the most painful thing. Having her so close, yet so far.

As I hugged her, I held her close to my body for a longer time than I usually did. The smell of her hair kept me from walking away, her hands touching the back of my neck reminded me of when we kissed during sex and I couldn't help but feel a stab of pain in my chest when I separated from her.

I don't know why I did it, but as I walked down the stage, I turned around to see her again for a few seconds. It was as if I wanted to keep her in me, forever. I understood instantly that I shouldn't have done it, at least, not there and at that particular time. Cherry saw me do it and was definitely not happy about it.

Good job Nick, not only did you fuck it up with Demi, but you did too with Cherry. Congrats on winning the "most stupid man alive" award today! I heard one part of me say.

Whatever. I replied.
