48. Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?

"So we're stuck here," I mumbled putting the last fry into my mouth after Mr. Valdez left us. "How long has it been?"

"Uhh thirty minutes," Shawn answered after checking his phone.

I sighed.

"I'm sorry," he apologized. "I realy thought we'd have enough time to stop here before Shayley's."

I sighed again. "It's not your fault. I mean it's not like you can predict the weather. The blizzard was unexpected."

He gave me a small smile before turning it into a full on devilish grin.

"What?" I asked.

"Come on," he said standing up.

In confusion I got up and followed him to the counter where Mr. Valdez was.

"Mind if we borrow your stage?" he asked.

"Oh, really?" Mr. Valdez asked.

"Yeah really?" I added in confusion.

"Well it doesn't seem like you have a pianist for tonight," Shawn said.

Mr. Valdez sighed. "He was already making his way here before the storm, he may still get here but not for a little while."

"Well," Shawn grinned. "We can entertain your customers for a while."

"We can?" I asked.

"Great!" Mr. Valdez exclaimed. "It's all yours."

"Shawn-"

"Oh come on," he cut me off. "It's better than sitting there doing nothing. So what do you say Princess?"

"I guess it couldn't hurt," I gave in.

"Good," he smiled.

"We could sing carols," I suggested. "Get in that holiday spirit."

"Not exactly my thing but I know a few," he chuckled.

I smiled and we headed onto the stage. His fingers swayed over the keys as he played the tune to 'Oh Holy Night' while I took in a deep breath before singing. I joined him at the piano for more songs after. This was fun. The pianist however finally got here and so we resumed our seats only to be informed by Mrs. Valdez that the blizzard was lasting longer than expected. At this rate we probably weren't going to make it in time for Shayley's almost Christmas countdown at midnight. I know, she's quite odd.

So Shawn and I just sat there...waiting. I smiled a little when I spotted a cute old couple dancing to the music along with a few other couples.

"Ehem?" Shawn called.

I looked at him as he got up and offered his hand. "It's not what I normally do but, care to dance?"

I smiled. "Don't you think we've jingled enough bells already? You really want to dance?"

"It's another way to kill time," he answered. "But with you, sure why not?"

I smiled again and placed my hand in his. "Well then I'd love to."

I put one hand on is shoulder and he held my waist with his. Our other hands were intertwined as we swayed gently to the music.

"What?" I asked, flushing a slight shade of red when I caught him staring at me again without saying anything.

He simply shook his head. "Nothing."

"Stop that," I said releasing his hand and covering my face in embarrasment with both my own.
