16. Rose

I sighed as I surfed through channels on the tv. I was so bored. Shayley said she had a lot of studying to do, Jess was visiting her aunt and I was still pretty mad at Austin. Under normal circumstances I'd ask him to come over but he really pissed me off last night. I went out with Charlie for a ride earlier but he had a call and told me he had to go somewhere. I tried calling Kyle a couple of times but he didn't answer so I just decided to take a walk. I had just gotten past a few blocks when I heard a car honk from behind.

"Michaels!" I heard the driver shout. I turned and saw Shawn's car heading towards me.

"Hey," I said when he pulled over.

"Why are you out here walking by yourself?" he asked.

I shrugged. "Was bored I guess."

"Get in," he instructed.

"Why?" I stubbornly asked, arching an eyebrow.

"For the last time, I'm not going to kidnap you," he joked.

I rolled my eyes but got in anyway.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"I don't know," he replied.

"So you're just driving round in circles then?"

He chuckled. "Maybe, but I just like to drive around, see if I can find anything interesting."

I nodded. We stayed silent for a while, not awkward silenct, just silent. Then we drove by a place called 'Seven Seas Aquarium'.

"Seven Seas Aquarium!" I exclaimed. "I loved coming here when I was a kid."

"Oh really?" he asked.

"Yeah. My dad used to bring Em and I here all the time," I said. "We made a lot of fun memories."

We did though. I loved the place because it was also a water park.

"Well then let's relive your childhood days," Shawn said putting the gear in reverse.

"You actually want to take me there?" I asked.

"Yeah why not," he answered. "Could be fun."

I got out looking around trying to recollect my memories. I hadn't been there in a while. Then my eyes landed on Shawn. How did a person look that good in just a regular t-shirt and jeans?

"I wanna go see the penguins mommy," a little boy said to his mother as he scurried past us.

"You wanna go see penguins?" Shawn offered in a high-pitched voice.

I laughed. "Yeah."

The penguins were so much fun to look at. We took a few pictures and Shawn volunteered to feed them fish. We headed to look at other different species of fish and other animals and plants.

"Found Nemo," Shawn said pointing to a red and white striped fish swimming about in one of the tanks. I chuckled. It really did look like Nemo.

"Man I forgot how fun this place was," I told him as I finished my ice cream. We were just strolling around. "I don't think I could have more fun."

"Wanna bet?" he said.

"Wha-". But before I could finish he grabbed my hand and ran into this play area with a lot of sprinklers.

"Whoa," I said as a splash of the cold water hit me in the face. "Why would you drag me in here?" I asked laughing.

"Cause I knew it would make you smile," he answered. "And I like your smile."
