Chapter 26

Bonnie POV:

"Can I help you?" The man asks again his grip becoming tighter on the axe. I look to Damon waiting for him to answer because I don't know what to say.

"Who the hell are you?" Damon asks bluntly.

"I'm Joshua Parker." He answers. "The owner of this house."

"Ah then you are just the man we are looking for!" Damon claps his hands together. "We are looking for something that we have come to find out, you have."

"What could I possibly have that you would need? I don't even know you people." He looks passed us at the door. "You broke my door?"

Damon shrugs his shoulders as I begin to speak. "No one answered and he is impatient. I'm so sorry about that... but we are here to find something called an ascendant."

Joshua's eyes dart between Damon and I in a small panic, as if he were hiding something.

"And why would you want that?" He asks.

"Our friend Quinn is stuck in a Prison World and we need to help her get out." I watch his body tense up at the mention of Quinn's name.

"How- why do you think I can help you?" He stutters.

"We were able to send her a message to ask who sent her there so we can find the ascendant and she gave us your name." I explain.

"I didn't send her to a Prison world. I don't even know who she is." I know this is a lie because of how his body language changed when I first said her name. He brings his hand to rub his mouth out of confusion and then his eyes go wide. "There's no way...that couldn't have happened."

"Care to share Papa Parker?" Damon takes a step forward.

"If she got sent to a Prison World and she gave you my name... well then there was a mix up with the witch who sent her there. They should have sent her to one where she would have been alone." He tells us.

"Alone?" I ask

"Wait... there's more than one Prison World?" Damon chimes in.

"Yes. Prison Worlds are designed specifically for the witch who is being sent there. The witch is supposed to be sent to the Prison to be left alone but you're friend.. if she is telling you to come to me for the ascendant... then I can't help you." He turns to walk down the stairs but Damon grabs his shoulder whipping him back around.

"What do you mean you can't help us?" His grip is tight on the man.

Joshua looks down at his grip then back to Damons eyes. "The only reason she would need the ascendant from me is if she was sent to the Prison World where my son is. And if she is there with him then they can't be let out. He can't be let out."

My mind goes back to the article I read online. "You're son, Malachai. The one that murdered your family? You sent him to one of these places?"

"I had no choice. He was a monster and he had to be stopped." He spits.

"Okay so new plan." Damon looks at me. "We find the ascendant, go in for Quinn and leave the psychopath behind."

Joshua just laughs. "You really think I am just going to hand over the one thing that is keeping my son locked up?"

"No I don't. That's why I'll just have to torture it out of you." Damon says as he starts to bring his other hand up to wrap around Joshuas neck but before he can get a grasp on him, Joshua mutters a single word and he disappears from our sight.

"What the hell?" I stand there stunned at his disappearance.

We hear the sound of footsteps stomping down the stairs and rushing behind us from inside the house. When we turn we see Elena walking quickly towards us. She steps out of the house and gives us a confused look.
