———After school hours; Kylie is in the Marin Biology lab while waiting for Drama practice to start.
She managed gently remove one of her scales from her tale and brought it to school.
"So I place it on this." Kylie says as she carefully places the dark and dried scale on the Microscope with twezers.
She adjusts the settings in the Microscope; grabs a dropper and dips it in to water and slowly adds a small amount of water onto her Scale.
Kylie stares at it as it transforms into the same exact color as her very familiar Aqua Blue tale.
"That's remarkable." A voice causes her to drop the dropper. She turns around and sees the Marin Biology substitute staring at the Microscope. Kylie quickly moves in front of it, blocking the woman's view.
"It's nothing." Kylie lies, hoping she didn't see much. Kylie glances down at the floor and notices water dripping off the counter.
Kylie's eyes flash open in worry as she quickly steps away from the water.
"It's just a little bit of water. Are you afraid of water?" Ms. Amard smirks at Kylie.
Kylie shakes her head as she turns around and wipes the water up with a thick towel nearby. "No. See." Kylie says as she lays the towel to the side of the Microscope.
Ms. Amard stares at Kylie, causing Kylie's chest to tighten. A small unpleasant chill runs down her back as the substitutes Blue-green eyes are piercing at Kylie.
"Are you looking for somehting or someone?" Kylie says, filling the tense silence.
Ms. Amard's lips purse. "Not exactly." She looks at the water droplet on Kylie's hand. Her eyes shoot open. "But perhaps I have came across something I may be nterested in." The creepy woman says as she locks eyes with Kylie.
Kylie feels a cool sensation on the back of her leg. Her eyes widen. "So what would that be?" She asks nervously as she tries to find a way to get her away from her before she grows her tail.
Ms. Amard's expression changes. "That Science experiement silly." She chuckles as she points at the Microscope.
Kylie slowly turns around and scoffs. "That?" Ms. Amard nods. "That's something I found on the beach yesterday. I have no idea what it is. But it's kinda weird." Kylie says cooly.
Ms. Amard's head tilts at Kylie and the Microscope. "Maybe you take me to the beach where you found that thing and we can go on a diving expedition to find more rare items." She offers Kylie.
Kylie bites the inside of her cheek to keep from screaming. "I am too busy to do that right now. I'm soryy. The play and my studies have been eating my free time." Kylie lies.
"Perhaps it wouldn't be a great idea for you to be distracted from your schooling." She says glaring at Kylie.
Kylie shifts uncomfrtobally as she stares at her. She silently wonders to herself why her tail hasn't appeared yet.
Kylie shakes her head and Ms. Amard smirks at Kylie. "Especially since I'll be your substitute until the replacement for Mr. Rites gets over his terrible cold." Ms. Amard explains. "I'll be giving more homework to keep your grades up." She says to Kylie.
Kylie forces back a scream. "Oh. There is already a replacement?" Kylie asks her.
Ms. Amard nods. "Indeed." She walks closer to Kylie. Kylie grips the counter to keep herself from shaking.
"But he's been sick since he found out that he had a permanant position here." Ms. Amard slinks toward to Microscope.
Kylie watches her as she eyes the scale. Kylie's chest tightenes even more.
"It's as if the offer made him so appalled to teach here that it made him sick." She cackles as she swiftly turns around to face Kylie.
Kylie flinches at her high pitched laugh. Eeerily sounding like a cross between a witch and a hyena.
"That sucks. Hope he's okay." Kylie forces a smile on her face. She does genuinly care if he's alright; but the Sea Witch is freaking her out so much that she can't do or say much else.
Ms. Amard walks toward the window ignoring Kylie. She stares off into the Courtyard of the school.
Kylie takes that time to quickly put the scale back into the container she brought it to school in and places it in her backpack.
"Are you okay?" Kylie asks as she notices that Ms. Amard doesn't make a single sound or move the entire time Kylie was putting away the scale.
She doesn't get any response by Ms. Amard. Kylie's instinct is to take her stuff and run out of the room and into Mr. Jarvis' room, she knows he'll be in his room right now grading papers and she doesn't want to be alone in the Auditorium.
But she also has the urge to see what is going on with her.
Kylie gasps as she sees Dark Blue eyes reflecting off the window. "I knew it." She says under her breath. Kylie shakes her head furious. Then she stares at the reflection of Ms. Amard—well Kleodora. Her mouth is slightly open, revealing six dagger like teeth. No not teeth....fangs! Kylie gasps.
"You think she's in here?" A voice echos through the hall. "She has to be. She's not in the Auditorium or in Mr. Jarvis' Class room. So she has to be in here."
Kylie's muscles loosen up and she pushes back what she just saw as she sees the owner's of the voices walk into the lab.
She quickly walks over to them as they step into the Marine Biology room. "Not in here." She says quitly.
Finn, Matt, Jakobe, Brian, Kaylee, Evie, and Lonnie back up as Kylie walks out of the lab.
"What's going on?" A voice pears from behind the group. Kylie's eyes widen to see Lucas walking next to her. "Are you okay? You looked freaked out." Lucas says worried. His eyes darting from Kylie and into the Marine Biology lab. "Is something going on in there?" He pries.
Kylie scowls at the group. She then looks at Lucas and forces a tight smile. "I'm fine and everyhting is fine." She lies. Kylie motions toward the classroom. "It's just a wild Koala that's going nuts over the plants and I don't want to get my eyes scratched out or my fingers bitten off." Kylie lies through her teeth.
Lucas looks from everyone in the group and then to Kylie. "Sure. Next there's going to be a crazy Kangaroo in there wanting to square up with me." He jokes.
Kylie grunts annoyed as Matt, Lonnie and Jakobe scoff.
"They are vicious when they need to be and you don't want to turn your backs on them. They'll kick you into next year." Finn says glaring at Lucas.
Lucas recoils. "And the crazy Koala?" He pokes Kylie, teasing her.
Lonnie chuckles. "Have you seen their claws? Or their teeth? They like to keep to their own species and they'd attack if need be." She explains.
Kylie puts a hand on her hip and stares at Lucas. "You believe me now?" She asks flatly.
Lucas hesitanly nods. "I guess. But I don't believe that Koala's would mean to harm someone."
"They don't always mean to. That's why they aren't as cute as they look." Kaylee speaks up.
Lucas shrugs. "Okay." Is all he says. "Did you call animal control?"
Kylie is taken off guard by his question. "No." She says. "I called Wildlife Services. They won't harm it."
Finn stares at her and smirks. She rolls her eyes as Lucas tries to take a peak into the room. "I don't hear anything in there."
"It's because I scared it when it saw me. I thought it'd go back out of the window, but it didn't it ran after me. On instinct, I ran." Kylie shrugs as she continues to lie. "I think it's eating the plants in there." She says.
Lucas nods as he shifts his gaze to Kylie. "Okay. Well since we found Kylie. I need to go to the Computer lab before Drama starts." Lucas says as he walks past them.
Kylie and Nicholas say by to him and Lucas ignores them.
"I think my chest is going to explode." Kylie says trying to catch her breath.
Finn looks at her worried. "Why? What's wrong?" His voice cracking.
Kylie chuckles. She looks at her friend's face and then to Finn. "There is no Koala." Kylie says. Finn and Matt look at each other confused. "That was a diversion so he wouldn't see Kleodora in there." Kylie points into the classroom.
Jakobe gasps. "What?! She's in there? How did you get past her?" He asks frantically.
Finn quickly grabs Kylie and hugs her tightly. "Are you okay?" He asks worried.
Kylie whimpers at the strength of his arms. "Yes I'm okay." Kylie says as she wiggles out of his arms.
She looks at her friends and then to her brother. "I got past her because she's having a memory." Kylie explains.
Matt and Lonnie both look at each other. "Really? And she didn't try to hurt you?" Matt asks protectivly.
Kylie shakes her head. "Yeah really. And no she didn't try to hurt me. She definetly tried to get under my skin though and it worked." Kylie shudders as Kleodora's cackle and weird movements and behaviors.
Kylie walks closer to the group. She shivers once more. "And you won't believe what else I saw?" She lowers her voice.
"What did you say?" Kaylee asks her. Her face scrunching onfused. Jakobe and Nicholas look at her the same way.
Kylie nods. "Oh yeah. Not the same ability as us." Kylie motions toward her, Finn, Lonnie, Matt, Evie, and Brian.
Kaylee, Jakobe, and Nicholas nod and sigh together. "Nope." Nicholas says.
Kylie slyly peaks into the classroom and lets out a sigh of relief to still see Kleodora still standing in front of the window.
Finn and Matt take a peak too and the gasp.
Finn looks at Matt startled. "Were those fangs?" Finn's voice lowers.
Matt nods and he blinks quickly. "Yes they were." Matt and Lonnie gasp.
"Crap." Lonnie mumbles. "We are doomed." She sighs.
"She had fangs?" Kaylee groans, her eyes narrow at Matt and Lonnie.
They both nod at Kaylee. "Yes she did. She definetly is a Vampiren." Lonnie says, her voice rash.
Kylie groans. "And that's the worse kind of Selkie, right?" She looks at Lonnie and Matt.
"Yeah they are worse than Merpire's." Evie speaks up.
Finn, Matt and Lonnie look at her shocked. "How'd you know that?" Matt asks her.
Evie shrugs. "I've been studying up on my History." She says non-chalantly.
"That's good because with her being a Vampiren; we are in even more danger than we were before." Matt groans.
"Oh great Mother Ocean why now?" Kylie rolls her eyes frustrated.
