Short to medium-ish chapter? Eh, I guess so. Love you guys. -Rae

It was funny, really.

Many years ago, when Daija and Violet were teenagers, Daija actually said out loud that if Violet was ever kidnapped, she wouldn't stop until she found her, then her kidnapper would pay in the most gruesome way possible. They were joking at the time, but a deeper part of her knew that she one hundred percent meant all of her words.

Time to make good on that promise.

Daija sat in her car a little ways from the old, abandoned facility, dressed in black, braided hair, complete with her jacket and the gloves that Adrienne gave her.

She focused on breathing, remaining as calm as possible, because she knew that storming in would put Violet's life in jeopardy. When the clock switched to 8:58, she got out of the car and started walking towards the building. Her plan was set.

Like she expected, the front door was unlocked. Fiona was waiting for her. Daija's danger sense wasn't alerting her of an ambush, so there was a plus in all of this madness.

Fiona was by herself. That was her second and final mistake.

As she walked through the quiet hallways, she heard a voice from up ahead. "I told your best friend to be here at nine o'clock. She has one more minute."

Then she heard muffled crying, like someone's mouth was covered. Violet. The sound of it alone made Daija's blood boil. She hated herself for allowing this to happen. She promised herself that Violet would never get involved, and now she was.

She walked out of the hallway and into the open space, and the moment Fiona saw her, she pulled out a loaded gun and aimed it at Violet's temple, who was tied up to a chair. Daija stopped in her tracks as her friend sobbed.

"If I even suspect that you are using your powers, Daija, I will pull this fucking trigger. Do you understand me?"

She bit her tongue, then nodded as she faced her best friend. "Vi, it's gonna be okay. I promise."

Fiona, wearing the red and gray heroes' suit, looked exhausted. There were dark circles underneath her brown eyes, and it showed in her body that she hadn't got a proper night's sleep in ages. Her brown hair didn't have as much shine as it did before.

As she stared at her, Fiona gave her a glare. "I can't believe it."

"That you resorted to kidnapping? I can't believe it either," Daija scoffed as she crossed her arms. "I take it Jamie told you a thing or two?"

She furrowed her brows in confusion. "Jamie? Jamie didn't tell me a damn thing. I've been watching your apartment for a while, especially since Aniya traded you. I was always suspicious of you, but I have to hand it to you for putting up such an act."

"Suspicious, yet you never said a word."

"Aniya said she felt bad for you. Told me a bit about your parents, and I thought that maybe I should lay off. Regardless, something told me to keep an eye on you, and sure enough, one morning, I caught you coming home after being gone for two weeks. After being with him for two weeks."

Daija raised a brow. "Oh, so it's true."

"What's true?"

"You have a habit of sticking your nose where it doesn't belong."

She thought about what Simon told her, and how she and Ian were spying on him and Sean not too long before he was kidnapped and brutally murdered.

"I'll do anything to keep this city safe," Fiona said through her teeth before turning to Violet and asking, "Do you know that your best friend is a liar?"
