Simon burned Daija's letter for her when they got back to his place.

They sat in his backyard near the lake, and when she placed it on the ground, she took a few steps back from it and gave him a nod. A single wave of his hand, and the letter ignited.

As she watched it burn and shrivel until it was nothing, she did her best to keep her tears at bay. She wanted this to be the start of her letting this go. Nothing that she can do now will change what happened back then.

She and Simon spent the rest of the evening in the living room watching movies on the large couch. He held her close so she was laying on his chest, and when she wasn't paying attention to the screen, she listened to his heartbeat. Very faintly, she could also hear the fire rushing through his blood. She liked being held by him. Liked when he played with her hair and gave her gentle kisses. She was going to savor every second of it.

Maybe it was because she was so emotionally drained from the day, but she fell asleep early and stayed asleep all throughout the night. Morning came around, and she woke up to the sunlight streaming through the curtains in the living room, still wrapped in his arms. Again, he stayed with her when he didn't have to.

Quietly, she faced Simon, who was still sleeping soundly. His dark hair was messy in the most adorable way, and up close, she noticed that his eyelashes were longer than she thought.

Is there any side of you that I'm not attracted to at this point? she thought to herself as she continued staring at him.

Yeah, he was vicious sometimes, but so was she in a way. The only difference is that he acts on his thoughts, and she doesn't. Yet another thing she's kind of jealous of him for.

Her phone was in her room charging, so she couldn't see what time it was. Her guess was that it was a little after nine in the morning. Surprisingly, she was looking forward to today. She wanted to get to base, see the rest of the team and do some more training with her powers.

She knew that Simon likes to go early, so she figured that he would be ready to go by the time she was done with her morning routine. When she started to slowly move from him, his arms slightly tightened around her to keep her still.

"Too early," he said to her, his eyes still closed and his voice laced with sleep.

"It's past nine o'clock," she giggled, but settled back into him anyway, "I'm used to you being up so early, since that's when you sent a lot of your dirty and detailed text messages."

"You're one to talk." he scoffed, "Good morning."

"Good morning. Are you skipping training today?"

"I'm already late, but I plan to go," he said as he opened his eyes, and Daija looked up to see hints of a smile on his face, "Plus I skipped yesterday. Austin's probably going to murder me, but that isn't anything new. I'll be ready to go soon."

Daija sat up, and he sat up with her, still keeping his arms around her. "Simon," she laughed, "You're going to have to let me go if you want to get ready."

"Nothing you say or do is going to get me to let go. Sorry."

"...Nothing?" she asked as she tried not to smile too big.

At the shift in her tone, he raised a brow and repeated, "Nothing."

"Stubborn this morning, are we?"
