I slowly turned around feeling a gust of cold wind brush against my neck. I couldn't help but to feel extremely tired and cold. I knew he was doing this to me. I had worked so hard this week, going to bed past midnight and only getting a good 3 hours of sleep. This has been my routine for the past week and a half. I had to help the rest of the servants with the ball. I wasn't very good at putting things together. Not even matching my own two pairs of socks. Even so, it didn't stop me from trying.
I never was apart of the group of servants, they all seemed to stick together. I only spoke when I needed to get a point across. But other than that it was as if I was not in the room. I picked up a gold string of thick ribbon placing it around the chairs. Then without thinking, I picked up a white and a black candle from the floor. Trying to place them on top of the table without having them fall. But that did not happen. Right before placing the black candle on the table I was surprised. Too surprised actually. The sound of a sneeze caused me to jump. The candle fell from my small hands. I quickly shut my eyes tight in anticipation of the sound of breaking glass. But instead, the sound of a small thump confirmed something else. That, someone, had caught it.
I opened my eyes slowly looking up at this mysterious person. Of course, it was him, the king. The one and only king. I snatched the candle from his large hand, not saying thank you in return. I rolled my eyes, groaning. I could feel a slight bit of aggravation running through my veins. I placed the candle on the table. Then he turned to walk away, but instead, his large hands gripped my upper arm pulling me toward him. I struggled to get away from his strong grip only getting more hurt by the second. A low growl escaped his perfect lips.
"Turn around.." He said sternly, instead, I stayed facing away from him. His grip tightened on my arm, then he spun me around. Pinning me against the wall, hands by my side, eyes glued to his pupils. "I would like it better if I didn't have to do this..But since you behave in such childish ways sometimes, I am left with no choice." He said in a low serious tone. "What do you want.?" I spat in response to what he said. His eyes searched mine, then he spoke. " I want you to take the day off tomorrow to come to the ball. Consider this, your formal invitation." He said smirking. I rolled my eyes. Then pulled away from his grip. Not saying another word, I walked to my room that was hidden deep within the dungeon.
