It was week of ignoring calls, ignoring messages and ignoring everything related to alpha Cayden Smith. Valerie was completely focusing on her pack. She now knew who the culprit was, who imposed threat on her and her pack and yet she could not do anything. She told about Scarlett to her beta, warrior head, Kevin and to vampire duo. She asked his elder half brother Charles to visit her pack someday. She felt guilty of ignoring him in her chaos.
Cayden on the other hand was restless. He and his pack members were forbidden from entering the borders of Stalwart warrior pack. He knew what he did was not right but Scarlett was his best friend. He knew he showed weakness and did not set a good example in front of his mate and his pack. Even Ryder did not appreciate his decision. He was there for him but as a beta not as his friend. Even the former alpha, Cayden's father, Jack was not impressed.
When Jack and Cristina came back from London after meeting their daughter Michelle, they heard what happened. They did not appreciate what Cayden did a bit. Jack wanted to exile Scarlett from the pack but Cayden opposed it which caused a rift between the father and son. Scarlett's parents were also ashamed of what their daughter did.
"She did it because she loved me, dad."
"It did not give her right to plot against her luna. Valerie holds an upper and stronger position than her. She is the luna of this pack and a strong alpha of your neighboring pack. You not only disrespected her as a luna but you did turned out to be a weak neighboring alpha."
"Dad." Cayden shouted in protest.
"Shouting will not change wrong into right." Jack reprimanded and left unimpressed.
His mother was sitting in the far corner and was watching the duo bickering. She knew what his husband was saying was right but she was also understanding how much difficult it was for Cayden to banish Scarlett from pack. After all they were friends since their diapers days. But she knew Cayden could not afford weakness. It was a harsh world.
Cayden looked towards his mother for support but she just shrugged her shoulders and left.

Valerie was pacing in her room restlessly and anxiously. She had called Charles in the morning to come and visit her. He informed her that he will reach in an hour as he had some work to finish in the lab. Now it was noon and he had still not reached. His phone was switched off. He never switches his phone off deliberately.
"Any news?" she asked as soon as Jason enters the office.
She had asked Jason to look into the matter.
"Yes." He replied. "But it is not good. Earlier this morning some hunters broke in Charles's apartment." Valerie gasped in fear.
"But luckily, he was not present. Our trackers and warriors were stationed outside his apartment as per your orders. When they saw hunters entering the building they chased them. When the hunters broke in and found the apartment empty they were angry. But before they could act our warriors charged at them. Those hunters are our prisoners right now. Our trackers are trying to track Charles but it looks like he has gone out of the radar."
Valerie ran an anxious hand in her hair. "Does mum know?"
Jason shook his head. "No, only Kevin is informed. He is constantly in touch with the trackers." Valerie nodded.
"There is one more thing." Jason said. "Cristina Smith wants to meet you. She has called me many times. She said you are not taking any of her calls."
Valerie nodded and replied. "I am not taking her calls and I am doing it for a reason. Tell her that the rules apply to one and all the members of Mystic moon. No exceptions."
"Just one last question."
"Go ahead." Valerie prompted.
"The information about hunters, that Dmitri collected from his meetings in Russia, should we disclose it to alpha Cayden?"
"We will. As a neighboring pack we must help them, despite of what they did with us. I will call the alpha once I get some information regarding my brother."
Jason nodded and was about to leave when Kevin entered.
"We managed to contact with Charles."
"Thank goodness." Valerie sighed. "How is he and where is he?"
"He is fine. He was being followed by some men when he went out for jogging this morning. So he quit jogging and returned to his apartment where he knew our warriors were stationed. He left his apartment an hour before his usual leaving time in a disguise. He ditched his sim card and switched off his phone. He did not go to his office and went incognito. He knew our trackers will be tracking him, so he left behind trail for them to follow. He called us ten minutes ago from a pay phone. I have sent our warriors there to collect him."
"I begged him for the protection but he is stubborn mule. I knew those bastards will target him. He is an asset for them. But when does he agree on something I say? He always plays the elder brother card on me. He only allowed our warriors to be stationed outside his apartment when mum insisted." Valerie said in exasperation.
"Have you sent anyone reliable with our warriors?" She asked anxiously.
"Yes. Dominic is leading the team of warriors. They did not want to attract unnecessary attention towards them. So they left in the groups of twos or threes. If by the chance anyone is keeping an eye on them." Kevin replied.
"That is good. Whose idea was it?" Valerie asked.
"It was mine." Kevin replied and Valerie patted him proudly.

After an hour Dominic entered the office accompanied by Charles. Valerie was up from her seat and ran towards him. She engulfed him in a tight embrace.
"You gave us a scare, Charles."
Kevin was next to hug him followed by Jason who shook hands with him.
"I am alright." He assured them all. "I hope you haven't informed mother or Genesis."
"Are you mad?" Kevin asked. "Mom and Genesis would be inconsolable had they knew."
"Why were you followed now?" Valerie asked. "We are facing problems with hunters from months. And moreover it is their motto not to harm any human even if they are associated with werewolves."
"I know that. That is why I was reluctant about the security because I knew I was safe. But somehow they came to know that I am the one that is manufacturing antidote to wolfsbane."
"I know how they knew. Scarlett informed them."
"Scarlett!" Charles asked flabbergasted. "Scarlett, your mate's warrior head? She betrayed us?" He asked astonished.
Valerie nodded and narrated the whole incidence.
"And Cayden supported her?" Charles asked to which Valerie nodded.
"Any ways I have a major breakthrough. Maybe I am able to find something that will help werewolves fight silver."
"Really!" Jason and Kevin asked at the same time.
"Yes." Charles replied proudly and he continued. "And maybe I have something that we can use against those hunters."
