Hello! There are many people going through your exact same situation. When you are online, you have to be careful about who you interact with and all of your activities in general. While I know you don't want to be rude to someone, you should not and cannot keep up with a stranger's texts just because they want you to. I think it is better for you to mute this person again and avoid any contact with him, if he's too clingy and gives you the creeps. You never know who it is behind the screen, so be careful.
