Her eyes were slightly moist from her gratefulness toward Ray and a small tug of guilt for all the pain she had given him
Yes, she was selfish, but she needed Ray. In the short span of her knowing him, he had become one of her pillars of support, and he will always have a special place in her heart)
R: yeah yeah enough with this sappiness and go get your girl already

M: I won't. I promise I won't mess up anymore.

Mon hurried home and found Sam in her study
Sam was holding a glass of brandy in a dimly lit room looking at the sun rising.
Looking at Sam's back, Mon felt Sam's lonely and desolate mood
At this moment, Mon knew, Sam was in a criss cross of emotions
Sam was back to her cold self, and this signifies that Sam was at a breaking point
If Mon really messed this up, she was sure that there was no turning back from this.
Mon shook her head, resolving her hesitation. She came closer to Sam and took the glass from her hand
She then proceeded to drink all the contents with fervor under the watchful eyes of Sam
A little liquid courage never hurt anybody, she said to herself as encouragement
She then put a small smile on her face and kissed Sam's cheek
Sam, in turn, just stayed seated emotionless.
Cold eyes were looking at Mon, piercing her with her gaze
Mon froze then shivered a little
How long has it been since she last saw Sam like this?
She remembered the feeling was the same when she first came to Diversity.
Back then, they were nothing but strangers and she never wanted to go back to that reality.
The same cold eyes
The same face devoid of emotions
She hated seeing this version of Sam
Mon tried to expel the mood by smiling wider and hugging Sam tighter
Sam, who was not at all impressed, took the glass back from Mon and pulled out the bottle of brandy she had hidden in her drawer
(Mon frowned at this. Noting that the bottle was already halfway empty.
Since when was Sam drinking?
Now that she had taken the time to observe,
It became clearer that Sam stank of the smell of liquor and smoke?
Where was the smell of smoke even coming from?
Sam doesn't even smoke
Mon frowned deeper in anxiety)
M: How much had you already drank love?
(Sam said nothing and just continued to gulp from the glass, not minding Mon nor her question at all)
M: Love, talk to me, please
S: What do u want me to say, Mon?
M: That you love me?
S: I love you (Sam said without emotion nor any fluctuation in her voice)
M: Love. I think you've had enough to drink for today
Do u want me to bring you to bed?
(Sam still did not respond to Mon and continued to gulp the contents of her glass without stopping.
When she finished it, she immediately went to refill it again
Mon, seeing this, was extremely frustrated.
she took the glass again, gulped the contents, and threw the glass to the floor
She expected Sam to say something, anything...
But Sam still remained silent.
She did notice, though, that the temperature of the room immediately dropped, and the silence was frightening)
M: What's this, Sam?
Didn't you give me a day?!
Why are you acting like this then?!
My day isn't over yet!
S: I didn't control you when you ran to Raymond, so why are you controlling me when I wanted to unwind?
M: Sam, I just needed to talk to someone...
I needed to clear my head for a bit, but
Aren't I here now?
S: And I just needed to have a drink to settle my emotions
How about you go back to your Ray and leave me alone?
M: Sam, are you still jealous about Ray?
We're just friends, Sam!
He's our doctor and my best friend!
It's normal for me to go to him for advice
S: And it's also normal for me to drown myself in anything i could get my hands on.
This brandy is the only way to numb myself from everything I don't want to feel right now!
M: Sam...
S: What do you expect me to do when my girlfriend not only refused to marry me but also ran to another man in the middle of a talk about our future together!

(Sam proceeded to take another glass from her drawer and poured herself another glass full of brandy
Seeing this, Mon was even more frustrated!
She again took the glass from Sam, emptied the contents, then took the bottle of an almost empty brandy and smashed it again to the floor)
S: That was expensive, you know
M: I don't care!!!
Talk to me, Sam! Please!
S: Aren't we talking now?
M: Sigh! I really didn't want to apologize like this, but I guess I have no choice
I'm sorry, Sam
I'm sorry I hurt you
I'm sorry I made you wait for so long
I'm sorry if I was selfish!
I was blind and I took you for granted!
Please give me a chance and don't leave me!
S: Should I take that as your answer, Mon?
M: I can be whatever you want me to be, Sam

All i have ever wanted was you!

Seeing this, Sam was pissed and took a step forward, intending to leave.
Mon, seeing this, hurried to stop Sam)
M: Why are you so serious, love?
I was just playing with you
S: Because that's all you ever do!
Play with me!
You say you love me, then you turn around and hurt me!
You asked me to marry you, and then you take it back the moment I get my hopes up!
I'm so tired, Mon!
I'm so fucking tired waiting for our happy ending to come!
Sometimes I feel like at the rate we are going, it would never come!
M: Sam, we don't need to wait for a happy ending
Aren't we already happy as we are?
Why do we need to complicate things?
S: Are we Mon?
Are we really happy?!
Coz I can't see it!
We're a mess Mon!
M: Well we could always choose to be happy Sam!
S: Yeah coz we chose to be miserable up until this point right?!
M: Sam...
S: I'll ask you for the last time Mon
What is your answer?
(Sam said coldly and Mon just sighed
She came closer to Sam and backhugged her)
M: Tell me love, what do u want me to do?
S: I already did, and you pushed me away!
M: We pushed each other away, Sam
S: I pushed you away?!
All I did was chase after you, Mon!
How could I have pushed you away?!
M: I felt trapped, Sam
S: So I trapped you?
(Sam said appalled)
M: Not intentionally.
I was trapped by our circumstances, and I was trapped by my own insecurities, and that pushed me away from you
S: And how is that my fault?
M: Because you never noticed
S: How dare u say that, Mon?!
M: Then you saw it and still bulldozed yourself through like you always do, right?
You think everything can be fixed by force Sam!
S: Just what did you expect me to do, Mon?
I was trying my best but everything was so complicated!
We were always fighting! And you were slowly drifting away from me!
All I wanted was to start my forever with you!
M: Sigh! At the rate that we are going.
We'll only run around in circles again, Sam.
For once, let's keep it simple.
Can we do that?
S: Tsk! As if im the only one to blame for this! Tsk! (Sam mumbled then begrudgingly nodded her head)
M: Then ask me, Sam
(Sam stared at Mon's eyes deeply. Hesitant to proceed and probe further
If Mon rejects her again, she really didn't know what to do)
M: I can be whatever you want me to be, Sam
Trust me and ask.
(With Mon's encouragement, Sam slowly started to ease up
Sam decided to take a chance)
S: Then can you be my wife, Mon?
Can you start a family with me and be my forever?
M: Gladly
(Sam was frozen for a moment...
Questioning herself if she had heard it right)
S: What?
(Sam asked hesitantly)
M: I said gladly.
Let's get married, Sam
(The frost in Sam's eyes now slowly disappeared and was now replaced by tears
Her tears can't stop falling, and she cried like a child
She fell to her knees and cried loudly
Crying out all her frustrations and was struggling to talk in between her sobs
Mon went down on her knees too and hugged Sam
She slowly soothed and patted Sam's back patiently, lovingly.
M: I'm sorry if I was so stubborn, Sam
I know how much you have sacrificed to be with me, and I'm sorry if I took this long to say yes to you...
But I'm here now, and I'm not leaving. Ever!
I've made up my mind
Let's get married Sam.
(Sam just nodded her head in between sobs until she could no longer produce any tears.
Mon shook her head helplessly and smiled at her lover.
She then proceeded to carry Sam to bed and snuggled close to Sam's still hiccuping body, gently comforting her)
M: Sleep now love.
Everything will be okay.
The next time you wake up, I promise, will be the day I call you my wife.
