Chapter 65

I shake the feeling that someone I know is here and take Skylynn's hand, leading her inside. We walk up to the counter and I pick her up, balancing her on my left hip.
"What do you want?" I ask her softly, she points to what she wants and I order the same. I use Hayes' money to pay for hers and my own for mine. I don't want to have to owe him, that reminds me, I still owe Matt for the lunch on the beach.

I put Skylynn down and carry our tray over to a seat. Halfway through our meal a shadow towers over us.

I crane my neck upwards to see who it is, instantly jumping out of my seat, pulling them into a tight hug.
"Dad! I'm so happy you're here!!"
"Hey Sky, how are you?" He seems sad
"I'm fine, how are you?" I ask suspiciously, wondering if he knows about the whole mum incident
"I'm fine, I brought someone with me though" I see a little girl step out from behind my fathers legs, I kneel down and pull her into a tight hug too.
"Jaimee!!"
"Sky!"
"I've missed you" I say kissing her all over her face
"Who's that?" She whispers in my ear, I turn to look at Skylynn happily eating her taco
"This" I begin, standing up "is Skylynn Floyd" Jaimee still looks like she has no clue who she is
"You know Nash?"
"NASHHHHH" she screams
"She is his little sister"

She runs past me, climbing into the seat next to Skylynn
"Hi! I'm Jai"
"Jai? Isn't that a boy's name?"
"Skylynn" I smile "it's short for Jaimee"
"Ohhh cool name!" Skylynn beams. It's cute, I'm witnessing a new friendship being made.

"So dad" I say, turning to my father "what brings you to LA?"
"I wanted to check my daughter was okay"
"I'm fine dad"
"You don't always have to hide things from everyone, especially me-"
"SKYYY!!" Jaimee calls, cutting him off. I turn to look at her, she's giving me the I-want-your-phone look I know all too well, I pull my phone out of my back pocket and hand it to her.
"Dad, I don't know what you're talking about"
"Your friend, Taylor, I think his name was, called me, he told me everything so I came here to see you"
"Honestly, I'm fine!"
"Sky, I talked to your mother. We've decided that it's for the best of the family, the best of you girls" he smiles but it is full of sorrow "That your mother and I, take a break for a while"

"What? You and mum are breaking up?" I keep my voice low, as not to cause a scene.
"You're 15, 16 in a month which means that you'll have a choice who to live with, your mother will be staying in Huntington Beach and I-" he trails off
"Where will you be?" I say, scared to hear the answer
"I've been offered two jobs"
"Where are they based?"
"Ones in Indianna, Princeton to be precise"
"Taylor's from there" he sits down at the booth and rubs his head with his hand
"I know, but the other is in Springfield, Virginia"
"That's like 20 minutes away from Matt"

I take a moment to take in the information. I should be thinking about who would I rather be with: my mum or my dad. But I can't help but think of the question that has been playing on my mind for days

Matt or Taylor?
