I kicked my shoes off, I didn't really give a shit where they landed, my day had been shit.

My boss was an asshole and I really wish I could quit but unfortunately money made the world go around.

I went to the kitchen and got a drink and then called Amelia.

"How was your day?" She asked.

"Shit actually, work is out of control, oh and get this, I had missed calls from Zack." Unbelievable.

"You did? I guess you told him you had other plans?"

I laughed. "No, I told him I didn't want to go."

"You did? Are you serious Adrienne?" She asked.

"I'm deadly serious it's about time they knew I was over them, maybe they'll stop inviting me." Which is what I hoped for, when Zack sent me the invite, after everything that had happened, I still wanted to say yes.

"I'm sure they know now." She giggled.

There was a knock at my door.

"Well I sincerely hope so." I said opening the door. "Amelia I'll call you back, Brian's here."

"Whaaaaat." I heard her yell before I hung up.

"Hi." He said, pushing past me and just walking right in.

"Hi."

"You work today?" He asked.

I thought it was pretty obvious. "Yes."

"Can I get a drink?" He asked me.

Oh how times had changed, normally he would just go and help himself, not now, not anymore.

"Sure." I went into the kitchen. "What would you like?"

He just shrugged.

We stood in silence while I got him something to drink.

He took a mouthful then spoke. "So I read your message."

I nodded, I didn't say anything, I was pretty sure my message said it all.

"What are you getting at?" He asked.

"It was pretty self explanatory Brian."

"I realise that, I'm just wondering where this suddenly came from."

I laughed, I guess you could say it was sarcastically. "It's not suddenly Brian, we all live different lives, it's been this way for a long time."

"Rie, I don't know what your talking about."

"Our lives don't include eachother anymore." I was blunt.

"That's not true, I include you in my life."

I sighed. "But Brian, I don't want to be included in your life anymore, I don't belong."

He looked hurt, he put his glass down and headed for the door. "Well thanks for letting me know exactly how you feel." He said stiffly.

I stood there and watched him walk to his car.

He got to his door and turned back to me. "Oh and you do belong."

He drove away and I felt like crying.

I really wished I did belong.
